Aston-on-Trent Spa Manager Completes Gruelling 30-Hour Cycle Challenge
A member of staff who works for Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent has completed an incredible 30-hour static cycle challenge, raising an incredible £2,655 for local charity Treetops.
Simon Tranter, Spa Manager at Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent, rode a static bike and refused to stop pedalling for a full 30 hours in a remarkable feat of endurance and determination, all in the name of charity.
The challenge took place at the village last week for the second year running and saw Simon push through the night and into the following day without stopping, driven entirely by his passion for raising funds for the village’s chosen charity, Treetops.
As a result, the final fundraising total of £2,655 surpassed last year's effort by nearly £800, a testament to Simon's incredible personal commitment.
Simon was supported by the local village community who got behind him every step of the way, rallying around him to donate generously while cheering him on. Residents, colleagues and members of the public purchased homemade cakes and even jumped on a bike to ride alongside Simon to show solidarity, offer encouragement and help keep his spirits high throughout the gruelling challenge.
Naomi Benham, Activities Co-ordinator at Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent, said: "What Simon has achieved is simply outstanding. To ride for 30 consecutive hours takes an incredible amount of physical strength and mental focus, and to do it all for such a worthy cause makes it even more special. We are so proud of him and absolutely blown away by the generosity of everyone who donated, baked, cheered and cycled alongside him. To beat last year's total by nearly £800 is a phenomenal result."
Kerstin Taylor, Village Manager, added: "Simon is a truly valued member of our team, and this challenge perfectly reflects the kind of person he is; selfless, driven and deeply committed to making a difference. The atmosphere throughout the 30 hours was electric, and it was wonderful to see our residents, families and staff coming together in such a positive way. Simon, you should be incredibly proud of yourself."
The funds raised will go directly to Treetops, the village's chosen charity, which provides vital services to those in need across the local community. The outstanding result builds on the village's growing track record of fundraising success and community spirit.
The momentum shows no signs of slowing down either, with Richmond Villages Aston-on Trent's next fundraising event - the Summer Festival - set to take place on Saturday 18th July. Members of the public are invited to attend and help the village continue to support such an important cause.
