Dementia care, redesigned

Inspired by a transformational approach to dementia care from the Netherlands, our philosophy is to support people to live as independently as possible for as long as possible, with our households accommodating 36 residents. Our model is quite different from traditional dementia care settings. This can really help to maintain proactive and positive lifestyles. Within Richmond Villages Willaston is also a 35-bed care home. This means that those living with more advanced stages of dementia can progress to a higher level of care.

Beautiful outdoor spaces

Residents have a choice of pleasant outside spaces to enjoy freely and unassisted, if they wish. Bedrooms have French doors onto their own patio areas. Hello, I am the PETS AS THERAPY representative (with my Great Dane -Freya) for this lovely care home. It is a fabulous property with exceptional care, very modern and bright, full length windows overlooking fields and pretty gardens. The households still maintain a certain amount of independence and the residence are free to participate in a wide spectrum of activities…. On the upper level is a higher level of care with nurses and carers in good supply! A beautiful, clean and fresh home.
I’ve just returned home from Richmond Willaston. I’m a guitar player and singer and I’ve performed there regularly since it opened. It’s a real pleasure to play there - the staff are always welcoming and supportive and actively engage with the residents during performances, even getting them up to dance. I’m already looking forward to playing there on Christmas Eve- party time!🎉
My 91 year old father spent 4 weeks here after a fall and time in hospital. He had dementia and was not mobile after the fall and had a room upstairs. Please think very carefully before sending a loved one here with dementia. The care was a disgrace and it was not unusual to wait 20 minutes plus if we rang the bell for dad to use the toilet. In the 4 weeks he was there he had 13 falls and was then admitted to hospital with severe dehydration. The surroundings may be lovely but the care is a disgrace and too many agency staff are used. The hospital mapped my dad's body on admission and were shocked at the bruises and his condition as he should never have got so dehydrated to the point they could not take blood. We raised our concerns on several occasions but nothing was done and my dad was distressed. He spent his last weeks on palliative care at another care home and they gave him his dignity back and I saw what a care home should be like with amazing caring staff completely different to our experience at Richmond.
My Mum has been at Richmond village for 3 months, she loves it there. The staff are great and there is a full program of activities such as 'knit and natter' to keep residents entertained. There is also regular live music. Mum likes the food and there is a good variety. Family members are made very welcome when visiting and can join in the activities. The home is spotlessly clean and the decor is lovely. I would highly recommend this home
As a regular visitor, I am always impressed with the warm welcome on every visit from all the team. What sets Richmond Village Willaston apart is their commitment to fostering a sense of community. Activities are tailored to engage residents, and there's a genuine effort to create moments of joy. It's evident that the team takes a individual-centered approach, ensuring each resident is treated with dignity and respect. It is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed to cater to the unique needs of residents with dementia.
