Richmond Villages Witney Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

Richmond Villages Witney has marked a significant milestone for one of its residents who was born in 1926.

Ken Moore, a resident at Richmond Villages Witney, celebrated his 100th birthday in style with a special tea party surrounded by family, friends, fellow residents and staff.

The celebration brought together the village community to honour his special day.  The team at Richmond Villages organised a special tea party for residents and family. Ken had received his card from the King which was on display, and his favourite carrot cake was made especially to mark his birthday by the village’s Head Chef.

Ken worked in international business leadership roles in the UK, South Africa and India until he retired. He became engaged in his late twenties and the couple went on to have two children, a daughter and a son, and later a growing family including nine great-grandchildren.

Ken relocated from Cheltenham to Richmond Villages Witney 11 years ago, initially moving into an independent living apartment. He has since moved into to an Assisted Living apartment and has become an active and valued member of the village community.

Ken enjoys a range of activities including Games Socials and playing Rummikub; in fact he was at the regular Saturday Games morning just the day before his milestone birthday.

Commenting on his birthday, Ken reflected: "Reaching 100 is an extraordinary feeling, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have celebrated this special day here with everyone at Richmond Villages Witney. The warmth and support from the staff and my fellow residents have made this occasion truly memorable."

Jo Cambrey, Head of Lifestyle & Wellbeing at Richmond Villages Witney, said: "It has been a real privilege for all of us here to celebrate Ken's 100th birthday. Ken is an inspiration to our entire community – his enthusiasm, his competitive spirit at our Games Socials, and his warm presence bring such joy to those around him. We are honoured to have been part of his life for the past 11 years."
