Pet Therapy Dog Visit Brings Joy to Residents of Richmond Villages Willaston

A therapy dog called Freya recently paid a visit to residents living at Richmond Villages Willaston.

Freya’s visit, which was set up through Pets As Therapy – an organisation that brings trained therapy animals into communities while supporting wellbeing and social interaction - saw her greet residents across the village's households and rooms.

The visit was designed to provide residents with the benefits of animal interaction, including relaxation and companionship by stroking and hugging Freya. Animal interactions are known to reduce stress, boost wellbeing, and encourage social engagement.

Many residents at the village used to have their own dogs at home, and the visit from Freya was particularly welcomed by those who value animal companionship. The company places animal welfare as its top priority.

Nicky Vaughan, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Willaston, said: "Freya's visit was a wonderful afternoon for our residents. The joy on their faces as they spent time with her was evident, and for many, it brought back fond memories of their own pets. These moments of connection are so important to us, and we're grateful to Pets As Therapy for bringing Freya to the village."

Freya’s visit aligns with Richmond Villages Willaston's commitment to providing meaningful experiences that support resident health and happiness.
