Local Mayor Buries Time Capsule as Richmond Villages Bede Turns 30
Mayor Colin Cape and Mayoress Julie Cape of Nuneaton & Bedworth were guests of honour last week as Richmond Villages Bede celebrated 30 years of providing care and a ready-made community for residents.
Marking 30 years since the retirement village first opened its doors to residents, the milestone event brought together residents, staff, and the local dignitaries for an afternoon of celebration where they were treated to Pimm's, strawberries and scones before enjoying live entertainment from Rob Wilson.
The Mayor took on a special role in the festivities by assisting in the burial of a time capsule, which has been filled with mementos of village life today, including handwritten recipes and personal reflections on daily life from the residents, team photographs, and highlights from the village's activities programme.
The time capsule will be opened at a future date, preserving memories of Richmond Villages Bede as it celebrates three decades of operation.
Debra Cosgrove, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Bede, said: "We were thrilled to have the Mayor and Mayoress join us to mark this significant milestone. Thirty years represents an enormous investment in the lives of our residents and the local community we serve. The time capsule is a wonderful way to capture this moment in our history and reflect on the relationships and memories we've built over these three decades."
Louise Smith, Activities Coordinator at Richmond Villages Bede, added: "It was a truly special afternoon. The presence of the Mayor and Mayoress made it feel like a real celebration of the village and everything we've achieved together. The time capsule is something our residents were particularly excited about as it's a tangible way to leave their mark on the village's history."
