Richmond Villages Witney Hosts Dementia-Friendly Tea Dance
Richmond Villages Witney last week brought residents, families and members of the local community together by hosting a joyful and inclusive Tea Dance to raise awareness of Dementia Action Week. Richmond Villages Witney opened its doors to welcome guests for a dementia-friendly event designed to provide an inclusive, supportive space for guests.
The afternoon, which was led by Activities Co-ordinator Jo Cambrey and Village Manager Martin Crick, was filled with familiar music, gentle dancing and warm refreshments and provided a welcoming atmosphere both for those keen to take to the dance floor or those who preferred to sit back and enjoy the company and entertainment.
With over 30 people attending, the event was a resounding success, with the room full of smiles as residents and guests danced to their favourite songs, tapped along to the music, or simply enjoyed a cup of tea and a chat with friends and family. The inclusive nature of the event ensured that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, felt valued and part of the community.
Jo Cambrey, Activities Co-ordinator at Richmond Villages Witney, said: "Events like our Tea Dance are so important in creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported. Dementia Action Week gave us the perfect opportunity to come together with our residents and the local community. Seeing the joy on people's faces as they danced and connected with one another was truly special. These moments remind us why we do what we do – to foster community, connection and inclusion."
Martin Crick, Village Manager, added: "We're proud to champion dementia awareness and create environments where people living with dementia feel genuinely supported. Events like these demonstrate our commitment to building a village where everyone belongs and can enjoy meaningful moments together."
