Meet our New Care Home Manager

Meet the Team: Nicky, Care Home Manager at Richmond Villages Willaston

Nicky brings a wealth of experience, compassion and leadership to her new role as Care Home Manager at Richmond Villages Willaston.

With a career in healthcare spanning many years and multiple specialist settings, Nicky’s journey began in a very personal way. As a teenager, she worked as a childminder supporting a young girl living with cerebral palsy, an experience that sparked her passion for caring for others.

From there, Nicky went on to work as a care assistant in both dementia and nursing homes before gaining experience in supported living and community care. She later completed her mental health nurse training and has since managed hospitals, community projects and national improvement programmes across the UK.

Throughout her career, Nicky has specialised in supporting people living with complex conditions, including dementia, acquired brain injuries, autism, mental health conditions and neurological rehabilitation needs. She has also led projects focused on improving care standards, supporting providers to achieve stronger CQC outcomes and helping individuals regain independence and move back into community living.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Nicky’s career has been her voluntary work supporting homeless communities across the North-West, particularly vulnerable older adults experiencing mental health difficulties, memory-related conditions, and social isolation. She also led successful projects supporting individuals with both mental health and substance misuse needs.

“Care should always be holistic,” says Nicky. “It’s about understanding the individual, their needs, their routines and what helps them feel safe, happy and independent.”

As Care Home Manager at Richmond Villages Willaston, Nicky’s mission to create a warm, happy and supportive environment for residents, relatives and staff alike.

“I want residents to live the best quality of life possible, while giving families peace of mind and creating a positive workplace for our teams.”

Nicky was drawn to Richmond Villages because of its innovative approach to later life care and the opportunity to make a bigger impact within a larger organisation.

“I felt there was more opportunity to bring ideas forward and continuously improve quality of life for residents,” she explains. “Everything is centred around the people who live here.”

Since joining the village, Nicky says her favourite part of the role has been the variety each day brings, along with Richmond Villages’ commitment to both residents and staff wellbeing.

“There’s a real focus on recognising staff, supporting career development and making sure residents and relatives have the best possible experience.”

We’re delighted to have Nicky leading the team at Richmond Villages Willaston and look forward to the positive impact she’ll continue to make across the village.
