Richmond Villages Nantwich Commits to Armed Forces Community With Official Covenant Signing

Richmond Villages Nantwich has proudly demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the Armed Forces community by officially signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

The significant ceremony saw the village sign the pledge on behalf of all staff and residents, with two veteran widows residing at the village witnessing the occasion.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, businesses, and organisations they serve with their lives.

By signing the Covenant, Richmond Villages Nantwich formally recognises the invaluable contribution that Service personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families make to the village, the local community, and the country as a whole.

The commitment outlines several key areas of support, including offering employment assistance, fostering engagement and outreach with military families, addressing their unique needs in health, and housing matters, as well as promoting understanding and support for the Armed Forces through education and civic responsibilities.

Alan Fairclough, Activities Co-ordinator at Richmond Villages Nantwich, who is leading the village’s bid to gain full ‘Veteran Friendly Framework’ status, commented on the signing: “Signing the covenant today is a crucial part of our work towards meeting the eight standards required to achieve ‘Veteran Friendly Framework’ accreditation. It’s a formal recognition of our deep respect and gratitude for the Armed Forces.”

Alan added: “We would warmly welcome any relatives of our residents to get involved in this important project and share any veteran information they might have, as we continue to build a truly veteran-friendly environment.”
