Richmond Villages Cheltenham Donates Hand-Knitted Blankets To Charity
Residents at Richmond Villages Cheltenham are making a charitable donation with a selection of knee blankets that they have been creating in their knitting and crocheting sessions.
The blankets will be donated to Age UK, a charity that offers support, advice and local services to the elderly.
Some blankets will be given directly to those in need, while others will be added to Age UK’s online shop, where relatives can purchase items for their loved ones. These purchases will not only help keep people warm but also provide vital funds that enable Age UK to support even more individuals.
Rosalind Gunary commented: “I think it is wonderful that our blankets are going to a good cause. We love our knitting group, and giving to those in need just makes it better. It gets so cold this time of year. I hope our blankets make winter a bit warmer for some.”
Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Cheltenham, added: “Our knitting and crochet group jumped at the opportunity to produce some warm clothing and blankets for a charitable cause this winter. We hope this charitable initiative marks the beginning of a meaningful relationship with Age UK.”
Tracy Harries, Marketing Manager, at Age UK Gloucestershire, shared: “We were delighted to hear that Richmond Villages Cheltenham were keen to donate their knitted blankets to the people we support. These thoughtful creations will make a big difference, especially with the onset of colder weather over the winter months.”
Tracy will visit Richmond Villages Cheltenham in the coming weeks to meet the knitters over a cup of tea and explain how the blankets will be distributed. She will suggest other knitted items that may be suitable for donation, should the residents wish to continue their efforts.
