Richmond Villages Bede Recognised For Community Engagement
Richmond Villages Bede has been named winner of the Best Community Engagement category at the 2025 Retirement Living Awards.
The village was recognised for its outstanding efforts to become an integral part of the local community, forging strong links with local groups and charities.
As part of its dedicated effort to foster connections between residents and the wider community, Richmond Villages Bede has established partnerships with two local primary schools, whose pupils visit fortnightly for shared activities and lunch with residents. These collaborations enhance intergenerational relationships, boost confidence, and support memory and emotional wellbeing for all involved.
Debra Cosgrove, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Bede, attended the awards ceremony alongside colleague, Louise Smith, Head of Activities, to accept the award.
Debra said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award for Best Community Engagement. It reflects our commitment and hard work invested in organising events and activities for our community.”
She added: “We are proud of our strong partnership with Anker Radio, the local hospital station, which adds a unique dimension to village life. We also welcome many local charities and services, including our annual Macmillan breakfast fundraiser and Christmas fayre.”
The village also has meaningful collaborations with the Warwickshire Fire Service and Warwickshire Road Safety, including safety talks and mature driver sessions, which further enrich village life.
This award underscores Richmond Villages Bede’s dedication to nurturing a vibrant, inclusive community and highlights the positive impact of its ongoing outreach initiatives. The winners were announced at the Retirement Living Theatre during the Care Show at the NEC.
