Meet Our New Head of Care at Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis

We’re delighted to welcome our new Head of Care to Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis, Nicky Bickerstaffe. With a wealth of experience in the care sector and a passion for supporting both residents and colleagues, she brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to her new role.

A Warm Return to Richmond Villages

Having first worked with Richmond Villages back in 2008, our new Head of Care is no stranger to the community and values that underpin our approach to care. “I had a really positive experience previously, so when the opportunity came up to return, it felt like the right move,” Nicky shares.

She’s rejoined the Richmond family after gaining extensive experience across different care homes and roles. “I’ve been a nurse since 1996. It’s been a varied journey, but I’ve always found my way back to care homes, it’s what I love.”

Why Richmond Villages?

The answer is simple: support and development. “It’s a great place to work. There’s career development, great policies, clear reporting structures, and good support in place.” These aspects not only create a strong professional environment but also help team members feel empowered in their roles.

Teamwork That Makes a Difference

Starting a new role is never easy, but the team at Letcombe Regis has made a strong impression. “Being the ‘new girl’ is always hard, but I’ve been really well supported by the administrator and clinical lead. They’ve helped me get to know the staff, residents, and daily routines.”

This collaborative spirit is something Nicky values deeply. “I really enjoy working as part of a team. It makes such a difference, especially in care.”

Training and Development

Richmond Villages is committed to ongoing development, and our new Head of Care has already experienced this first-hand. “The induction was excellent, and the training support has been brilliant. I had someone check in regularly to see how I was getting on. That level of follow-up isn’t common and it really helps.”

A Wealth of Experience

With over a decade of leadership experience in the care sector, Nicky brings not just knowledge, but also stability to the team. “There’s room to grow here, and I’m looking forward to being part of that transformation.”

So far, the highlight of her role has been connecting with the residents. “Meeting the residents has been my favourite part. There was a lovely event recently ‘Glamorous Grannies’ and seeing everyone so engaged and celebrated was a really special moment.”

Looking ahead, Nicky is eager to focus on improving the quality of care through smarter working. “It’s about reviewing current practices and making things easier and more effective for the carers. When we support our team well, our residents benefit too.”

We’re thrilled to have Nicky back with us at Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis and look forward to the positive impact that she will bring.
