Primary school pupils help get residents on their feet
Local primary school pupils have paid a visit to residents at Richmond Villages Witney to help get them on their feet.
To celebrate National On Your Feet Day, which aims to encourage people to break up their sitting time and get moving, the children from Windrush Primary School walked with residents around the retirement village’s bowling green and gardens. Not only did the children help get residents outside and active, but they also helped to boost their mood and create intergenerational bonds.
The children chatted to residents along the walk and later enjoyed a picnic in the village’s garden.
Carla Timms, Senior Village Advisor, commented: “On Your Feet Day was a first for us but it won’t be the last. The children brought such energy and enthusiasm, and to see them chatting with the residents was wonderful to see. Our residents and staff have expressed how nice it was to get out, get moving and chat to new faces – if not somewhat tiring keeping up with the children’s energy levels!”
