Mother Duck Returns to Richmond Villages Bede
A feathered friend has frequented Richmond Village Bede for another year to lay her eggs.
According to staff, the mother duck has visited the retirement village every year for over 25 years and has become a much-loved character amongst residents and the village team, who eagerly await her return each Spring.
Once the ducklings hatch, residents enjoy feeding them and watching them grow as they wander around the village’s garden. The feathered family also enjoy the main pond on the grounds, where a purpose-built duck house is set up ready for them.
Debra Cosgrove, Village Manager, commented: “It’s so lovely that our residents look forward to the arrival of the ducklings – it’s the talk of the village each Spring. They love feeding and looking after them, it brings many hours of happiness for them to just sit by the pond and watch them!”
