Local centenarian welcomed back to beloved community space
Dennis Eyres, who lives at Richmond Villages Nantwich, was warmly welcomed back to Betley Village’s Reading Room this March.
The Reading Room is a beloved space where community members can meet, connect over different activities, and use the space for events. Dennis was invited to The Reading Room as familiar face, having been a treasurer for a number of years and helped first establish the room as part of the village’s millennium project in 2000.
Dennis was delighted to reconnect with old friends and make new ones, he said: “What a wonderful morning. It was so lovely to be back in the village Reading Room and greeted by my friends!
“I am proud that this space serves such an important role within the local community and am excited to be involved in the events and activities happening this year. It’s a terrific opportunity to connect with more community members and everyone is welcome at the Reading Room.”
Dennis has since invited members of the Reading Room to celebrate his 101st birthday at his retirement village in June this year.

The Reading Room is open: Monday, Thursday, and Saturday between 10.30am – 12.30pm. The building served many purposes before becoming the special place it is today. The space holds different talks, seasonal events, and organised group walks for the community to enjoy the countryside and socialise with all ages of the community.
