Handcrafted Christmas Train Donated to Local Charity
Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis donates handcrafted wooden Christmas train, built by Paul, the talented head gardener, to Team Mikayla, a local charity dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with cancer.
The train, originally created as part of the village’s Christmas display, was set to be discarded when a thoughtful suggestion was made to find it a new home. Shared on the Wantage and Grove Facebook page, the post caught the attention of Natasha Beames, whose daughter Mikayla founded Team Mikayla—a charity that grants wishes to children facing cancer.
After visiting the village and seeing the train, Natasha expressed her gratitude and offered to make a donation to Richmond Villages’ chosen charity. In a gesture of goodwill, we asked Natasha to direct the funds towards Team Mikayla instead, to continue their incredible work. Mikayla’s contributions to the community have even been recognised with the brilliant British Empire Medal.
“We’re thrilled that this handmade Christmas train has found a meaningful new purpose,” said Carol, Head of Activities, Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis.
This highlights the strong community ties Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis has. Located near Wantage, the village offers a vibrant and supportive retirement community.
