Richmond Villages Witney and Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis embark on an epic cycling journey to support Sobell House Hospice
Residents and staff at Richmond Villages Witney and Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis have taken on a monumental challenge, cycling the perimeter of Oxfordshire, covering over 200 miles each, in just two weeks. This extraordinary feat was accomplished as part of their fundraising campaign for the OxTrail 2024, aimed at generating vital funds for Sobell House Hospice.
The cycling endeavour, undertaken with unwavering determination and community spirit, symbolises the commitment of both retirement villages to support the compassionate care provided by Sobell House Hospice. Each mile pedalled reflects their dedication to improving the lives of individuals and families facing terminal illnesses in Oxfordshire.
“We are immensely proud of the residents and staff who have participated in this incredible journey.” said Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Witney. “Their resilience and generosity demonstrate the power of collective action in making a positive impact on our community.”
The villages have collectively raised a remarkable £2000 through the initiative, which will directly benefit Sobell House Hospice, enabling them to continue their invaluable work in providing palliative care and support services to those in need. Richmond Villages encourage individuals and businesses alike to contribute to this worthy cause and help make a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their loved ones.
The OxTrail 2024 is Oxfordshire’s very first sculpture trail, in which over 30 life sized and mini herds of oxen will be grazing throughout the county, in a campaign designed to bring the community together. The bold and vibrant sculptures designed by artists, schools, businesses, promise to make a truly unique and ox-citing herd. The sculpture trail will be live from 6th July 2024, until the end of August, at which point the sculptures will be auctioned off to raise money for Sobell House Hospice.
