Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent Spa Manager Raises Funds for British Heart Foundation in Memory of His Father
Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent is proud to announce that Spa Manager, Simon Tranter, successfully completed a 12-hour static cycle challenge, raising approximately £1450 for the British Heart Foundation. The event, held in memory of Simon’s father who passed away last April, took place on an exercise bike in the village reception from 6am to 6pm on 22nd May.
Simon’s father, a passionate cyclist, regularly participated in charity rides, including notable routes from coast to coast and Derby to Skegness. Tragically, he suffered a heart attack during a charity cycle to raise funds for St Andrew’s Academy, a special needs school in Chaddesden (Derby) for teenage children with autism, severe learning difficulties, and other additional needs.
The school holds a special connection with Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent as the students volunteer weekly on the care floor for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, spending valuable time with the residents.
The event saw tremendous support from the community, with four exercise bikes in use throughout the day. Residents, staff, and spa members all joined Simon during his 12-hour effort. Additionally, students and staff from St Andrew’s Academy, including Simon’s identical twin brother who teaches at the school, visited to show their support, ensuring all four bikes were active all day.
Simon’s dedication and the overwhelming support helped raise an impressive amount, which will be further boosted by Bupa who will match the amount. Along with the additional sponsorship he anticipates receiving when he participates in the 100-mile charity cycle from Derby to Skegness later in June, with his twin brother and son, an event his dad completed many times.
