Richmond Aston Sponsors Derbyshire Later Life Event

 Richmond Villages, who are developing a new retirement village in Aston-on-Trent, are sponsoring a retirement living fair which is to be held at Calke Abbey Park on Saturday 12 March 

As well as a series of presentations during the day, the event is the chance to meet a range of groups, charities and specialists in everything to do with retirement. These include specialist holiday advisers and social groups such as Probus, Women’s Institute and the University of the Third Age (U3A), and charities including Age UK and the Stroke Association. 

Over 25 organisations will be in attendance, including Alzheimer’s Society, MS Society plus specialists in hearing, aromatherapy, financial planning and legal services will also be there, as will Bupa’s elderly advice team, Derby Crown Bowls Association and Richmond Villages. 

David Reaves, Head of Marketing for Richmond Villages commented “We are delighted to be sponsoring this event. With people living longer and healthier lives, retirement offers many new opportunities, whether that is a new home, new hobby or the opportunity to travel.  Obviously health and wellbeing is another important factor in retirement and this event will have experts who will be able to provide help and advice in this area as well.” 

Throughout the day there will be a number of presentations which visitors are welcome to attend:

 10.30 & 14.00 - Dr Carol Holland, director of research for Healthy Ageing at Aston University

Dr Holland will be talking about the findings of her recent research on the health and wellbeing benefits of retirement villages.


11.30 - Paul Jackson, director of Richmond Retirement Villages

A discussion on assisted living, what it provides and how it can help people retain their independence.

Free entry to Calke Abbey  House for the first 50 people attending the Richmond Villages presentation.

13.00 - Annette Hallas, Bupa Elderly Care Advice Line

Annette will be giving help and advice on retirement and care options in Derbyshire.
