Richmond Villages - Caring for you

11 September 2011

The third annual Connecting The Community Family Fun Day was held recently at Richmond Village Nantwich. Young and old enjoyed a day full of sunshine and fun whilst finding out all about their local community. With the official opening by local MP Edward Timpson, the day started with a gymnastics show by Crewe & Nantwich Gymnastics Club who wowed the crowds with their amazing displays. This was followed by further entertainment including children's entertainer Jo Jingles who even had Hospitality Manager Debbie Mercandelli joining in with the fun and laughter!

The local Sainsburys store provided cheese tasting whilst their community spokesperson Olwyn Payton chatted to people about the wonderful work that they do in helping local charities. In addition representatives from many other clubs, charities and social societies were on hand to tell people just what they do and to offer advise and raise some money at the same time. Tasty cakes were raffled, quizzes completed and tombolas won as the crowds continued to flock to the Village.

The local Emergency Services were also here and children enjoyed sitting in the back of the police van or helping to squirt the water hose from the fire engine.

Redshift Radio joined in with the day to celebrate their first birthday whilst the proceeds of a raffle went to Cystic Fibrosis whose representative Fran Foster was delighted and remarked "We have been toRichmondVillagea number of times now and always enjoy ourselves when we are here. The fact that we won the proceeds from the raffle makes the day even more worthwhile!"

Co-organiser and Richmond Village Advisor Nicola Tooke commented "This is the third CTC day that we have organised and they just keep getting better and better. We are very grateful to Edward for opening the event again and also for bringing the sunshine with him! It is a wonderful way for people to find out about their community and we are delighted that so many people have come along today to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere here".

With the help of a bouncy castle, Snugburys Ice Cream and delicious BBQ food, children and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed their day out and everyone agreed the day had been, once again, a tremendous success. Plans will start again early next year for the next CTC day and anyone interested in attending should contact Nicola or Alison at Richmond Village on 01270 629080 to reserve a stall
