Richmond Villages - Caring for you

Letcombe Regis Open Gardens

22nd June 2010

Letcombe Regis Open Gardens

You’ve had to wait two years, but at last Letcopmbe Regis's own horticultural extravaganza takes place at the end of this month.

Now is your chance to peep behind hedges and walls and discover some of our village’s secret gardens.  Ten private gardens for you this year:  some new, some long-established; some small and some sizeable—each one a hidden gem to delight and inspire. And this year there’s the additional attraction of a new garden created by our Richmond neighbours.  All for only £5 (that’s less than 50p a garden!) which goes towards the upkeep of our historic 12th century church. Children under 16 free.

Take a gentle stroll round the village enjoying the gardens,  treat yourself to an ice cream at Richmond Lodge or tea and cakes in the village hall and don’t forget to visit the plant stall.  Also, new this year, we have a quiz about the gardens for children – with prizes, of course. It all makes for a lovely afternoon, so bring your friends (But, please, leave your dog at home.)

Programme with map available from the two car parking sites - at the village hall or the Greyhound; or from any of the participating gardens, easily identified with a big flower sign.

We can’t offer you Alan Titchmarsh but we can guarantee a fascinating afternoon, whatever the weather.

Richmond Letcombe Regis Open Day

Richmond Letcombe Regis would like to invite you to experience our brand new Village at our Open Day on Sunday 27th June 2010, from 10am – 4pm.

Sales and interest continue to exceed our expectations with just 10 Village Apartments and 6 Assisted Living Apartments of Phase 1 remaining.  Due to this success, the Open Day will be the first opportunity to view the next phase of Assisted Living Apartments.  Our new respite suites will also be available to view.

Our Care Home is now fully open and the first residents have now moved in.  If you wish to view the Care Home on the day, please contact us to arrange an allocated appointment.

In addition to the above, on this Sunday, Letcombe Regis celebrates their ‘Open Gardens’ in aid of the upkeep of the historic 12th century St Andrews Church.

Our gardens will also be available to view, including the newly completed Sensory Garden.  Why not bring your walking boots and take a stroll through the Nature Reserve?

I look forward to seeing you and showing you why we believe that Richmond Letcombe Regis is unrivalled and fast becoming recognised as the best retirement community in the country.

Yours sincerely,

HRH the Earl of Wessex KG KCVO Opens Retirement Village in Oxfordshire

His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex KG KCVO has today (24th June) opened Richmond Letcombe Regis, a new £60 million retirement village near Wantage, Oxfordshire.

The retirement village, built and operated by Richmond Villages, part of the Barchester Healthcare Group, is the only development of its type in Oxfordshire; it offers a variety of new homes, excellent levels of care, services and facilities for the over 55s.  The age range of those already living in the recently completed new village is currently from 60 to 100 years.

Richmond Letcombe Regis already employs around 50 people which will increase to nearer 100 when fully occupied, and includes a wellness spa with a swimming pool, gym, health and beauty treatment rooms and a hair salon; a restaurant, café, IT and crafts room, library and a bowling green.  Landscaped grounds include lakeside gardens and a nature reserve.

Accommodation available to purchase includes Independent Living Apartments which are ideal for those who can live independently, but like the idea of being in a safe and sociable community where care and assistance are close at hand if needed.  These large apartments have a kitchen, living room and one or two bedrooms, with an en suite to the main bedroom.  The Assisted Living Apartments are designed for those who still want their own front door but who require some help with daily living; these include a spacious living room, kitchenette, one or two bedrooms and an en suite shower-room.

The company’s own on-site domiciliary care team provides as much or as little help as is needed 24 hours a day.

The Care Home at the heart of the village provides 24-hour nursing and dementia care.  These large, beautifully furnished rooms go well beyond what many expect a care bedroom to look like, with exceptional features including a fully profiling bed and an easily accessible en suite with a wet room shower facility.  The care home provides long and short-stay care, rehabilitation, post-operative and palliative care as well as specialist dementia care within a dedicated Memory Lane community.  Each resident has a named carer who oversees their personal needs and encourages participation in daily activities within the village wherever suitable.

Friends and family can stay overnight in guest suites, enjoy dinner in the restaurant and even take a swim in the pool.

Paddy Brice, managing director at Richmond Villages, said:  “We are most grateful to His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex for making this a very special day for everyone at Richmond Letcombe Regis.”

The new retirement village has been warmly welcomed by the local community, which can join in with activities and share its superb facilities.

The convenient location near Wantage, just ten miles north of junction 14 on the M4, makes the village easily accessible for those living near Newbury, Oxford, Reading, Swindon and West London.  Currently, 40 people have moved into the new village.

Independent living apartments are priced from £295,000, assisted living apartments are from £240,000, and care bedrooms from £850 per week.  Telephone 01235 773970 or visit www.richmond-villages.com.  Richmond Letcombe Regis, South Street, Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire, OX12 9RG.
