The very last tile has been laid on the roof of Richmond's new retirement village at Letcombe Regis, marking a landmark in the construction of the luxury development. Paddy Brice, managing director of Richmond Villages, and Paul Cann, chief executive of Age Concern Oxfordshire, one of Richmond's chosen charities, performed the symbolic 'Topping Out' ceremony this week.
Paddy Brice said: “After many months of planning, development and construction, we are delighted to celebrate this significant milestone, and glad that we could share it with Age Concern. We are on schedule to open the doors to our first residents early in 2010, and look forward to offering a first class service and outstanding retirement facilities to local people.”
Richmond Villages has raised funds for Age Concern at its other retirement developments in Northampton, Painswick, Nantwich and Coventry, and intends to work closely with the charity in Oxfordshire. Paul Cann said: “The number of people in Oxfordshire aged over 85 is set to double over the next 20 years, so Richmond's retirement village in Letcombe, which offers such an exciting way of living and an excellent quality of life, is timely and very welcome. We are looking forward to working with them in the future.”
The sales and marketing suite at the new development is now open and properties are available for purchase. Interest in the village has already been excellent, with over 20 apartments already sold off plan. An Open Day will take place on Saturday 3 October, offering visitors an opportunity to view the showhomes which showcase the different types of accommodation and care available at the village.
The award winning village, which nestles in beautifully landscaped grounds that include lakeside gardens and a nature reserve, will provide a range of deluxe apartments to suit all. The Village Apartments offer a more self-reliant lifestyle and are designed to make life as easy as possible. These well-appointed homes include a kitchen, living room and one or two bedrooms, the majority also having an en-suite bathroom, and are priced from £295,000.
Those requiring more assistance can opt to buy one of the Assisted Living apartments. These include a spacious living room, kitchenette, one or two bedrooms and an en suite shower room, and are a real alternative to a room in a residential care home. Residents benefit from varying care packages provided by Richmond’s on site domiciliary care team, and hotel-style services that include food, beverages, daily maid service and laundry. These homes are priced from £250,000.
A Care Home will also be located at the heart of the village providing 24-hour nursing care, within which there will also be a Memory Lane Community, catering for those with a dementia.
The facilities will include a restaurant, café, IT room and library, craft rooms, a bowling green, and a wellness spa with a swimming pool.
The sales office is at Richmond Letcombe Regis, South Street, Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire, OX12 9JY, and open from 10am to 4pm daily.
