Stories, news and updates straight from our villages
For the third year running, Witney has turned blue for Dementia Action Week, which runs from Monday 20th – Sunday 26th May 2019 across the country.
The week is now in full swing; hundreds of shopfronts in Witney have turned blue to show their support for the campaign. Ten free events are also taking place over the course of the week, organised by Witney Dementia Action Alliance (WDAA), from Tai-Chi on the Green on Tuesday at 11am to a Rock and Roll Tea Dance on Friday afternoon.
Chairwoman of the WDAA and Village Adviser at Richmond Witney, Suzi Morgan, commented:
“It’s about getting people to act during the week and building that into their day to day lives. You can live well with dementia, rather than feeling you're no longer accepted once you're diagnosed."
Dementia Action Week provides a great opportunity for us all to join in with the conversation about dementia and better support our family, friends and members of the community that may be living with a dementia diagnosis.
