Before joining Richmond, I have held regional management positions in the hospitality industry. In my earlier career, having completed an engineering and management degree at Cardiff University, I spent several years in general management and project management positions in the travel retail industry. The common thread in my career to date has always been people – building great
teams and delivering exceptional service levels, always centred on the customers’ needs
I consider myself to be incredibly fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community and I believe Richmond Village Northampton is, and should continue to be, a wonderful placed to live and to work. My vision is simply to make our community better tomorrow than it is today.
Registered Care Manager/Deputy Village Manager
I recently joined Richmond Village in February following a varied nursing career spanning over 25 years. The most recent experience of being a palliative care nurse for the last 10 years in the local hospice. I am a passionate nurse who enjoys working with residents to ensure high standards of care. I am open and honest and are very much looking forward to working within the village to help continue such high standards
Domiciliary Care Manager
I have worked within the care industry for over 23 years within various roles including managing a care agency in Devon. I am a qualified NVQ Assessor and have a level 5 management.
I am passionate with care and feel that everyone who I care for has a right to be heard. I feel that each person has a right to be cared for in a way that meets their needs, views and wishes.
Senior Village Adviser
I joined the Richmond Northampton team in March 2012 and my role as Senior Village Adviser is varied. Although much of it involves the promotion of Richmond through networking, press releases and the organisation of events, equally important to me is the responsibility of introducing potential residents and their families to the Village. Through me, visits and show rounds or even respite breaks, convalescence breaks or simply “Try Before You Buy” visits can be arranged for residents and families. I am always ready to answer any questions and offer help and reassurance for what can sometimes be an important change in lifestyle. My aim is to make that change as stress free as possible.
Not only am I responsible for the initial introduction but also the after sales care of our residents. It is a priority but it is also self rewarding to know that our residents and families are satisfied and happy with the service we as a team provide.

Having left Scotland 30 years ago I embarked on a career spanning 15 years in the hotel industry which I absolutely loved. During my time in hotels I was fortunate enough to be part of the opening management team of two new luxury hotels. My hotel background allowed me to gain invaluable experience and understanding of the hospitality industry and the exceptional levels of customer service that are required. I like to think that my past experience will allow me to contribute to the continued success and standards that we strive to provide at Richmond Northampton. I have been part of The Richmond Northampton team for 7 years and have loved every minute.
Head of Maintenance
My previous role was a Facilities Manager for Cambridgeshire County Council where I worked over 7 years and prior to that I worked in the building industry running my own business. This was a home improvement company specialising in conservatories and garage conversions and general work such as plastering and carpentry.
As well as being new to Richmond I’m also new to Northamptonshire moving here from Cambridgeshire last year. I’m really looking forward to discovering what Northamptonshire has to offer and to becoming part of the community at Richmond.
Hotel Services Manager
Having grown up in the restaurant industry I have had the opportunity to work and manage in a wide variety of venues. I joined Richmond Northampton in 2014 as Hotel Services Manager I am responsible for the smooth running of the restaurants. I also work closely with the catering department to try to ensure not only are our resident’s meals nutritious but also a enjoyable experience.
Head of Activities
I have worked at Richmond Northampton from the beginning firstly in Domiciliary care and now activities. It has been great to meet the first ever residents and then to watch the village grow into the thriving village we have today.
My role is to organise the activities for the independent Village apartments and the Assisted living apartments and to oversee the care home activities. I encourage everyone to participate in the busy activities schedule on a daily basis. I promote the activities with residents, friends and family and I ensure that I have full knowledge of the residents likes, dislikes, interests and abilities.
I issue a monthly newsletter to promote the activities and encourage everyone to join in. Each month I run a themed Supper Club, Quiz Nights, Social nights with entertainment and Film nights. I am always looking at new ideas for activities that are requested or suggested day trips etc.
I work at Richmond Northampton four days a week and one day a week I visit other villages to advise and assist with activities, Meet with activity staff and generally support all the Richmond Villages.
I love working for Richmond Villages and have come to think of the residents as extended family & friends and hope that after reading this you to would like to come and visit us for coffee?
As Head of Housekeeping my role is to manage and organise the housekeeping and laundry departments. I am responsible for a team of dedicated staff whose primary aim is to keep our residents' suites clean and their personal laundry washed, dried, ironed and returned as quickly as possible. My team also look after the 30 beds we have in our nursing home as well as supporting our independent living units. Giving attention to detail we pride ourselves in providing an efficient level of service to the highest standard for our customers made all the more rewarding by the positive feedback we get.
Administration also has to be kept up-to-date and accurate regarding such items as health and safety, staff rotas, training, ordering of products, etc. I also attend the weekly management meeting and work closely with the Village Advisers to ensure everything is in place for any new residents moving in. This also extends to those staying with us on a Richmond Retreats holiday and respite break.
Every day is a challenge and no two days are the same, however, the most rewarding part of my job is being satisfied that our residents are happy, well looked after and above all, cared for.
As ‘Head Gardener’ at Richmond, I am responsible for ensuring the grounds and gardens are kept tidy and well tended for all our residents to enjoy. I have always loved gardening, creating visually interesting spaces using traditional perennials and shrubs. With a nostalgic fondness for the quintessential ‘English Cottage’ garden, I try to plan the gardening year to give a much colour, fragrance and shape as possible. Starting in early spring with swathes of vibrant daffodils, tulips and snowdrops, warming up through early summer with scented peonies, roses and Lilacs, leading to our full summer show of glorious hanging baskets, lavenders and agapanthus. Each season brings a new challenge to enjoy.
I am responsible for the day to day running and management of the busy professional standard kitchen which service the Richmond restaurant, Care home restaurant, the café and room service delivery.
This involves planning and preparing balanced, nutritious menus for residents (including lunch, evening meals and light options) using high quality fresh produce and also catering for private dining functions and events.
I work with a team of Assistant Chefs and the Hotel Service Manager who support me in the role in order that we can maintain quality and delivery at all times.
