Richmond Northampton has a 30 en-suite bedroom Care Home providing 24 hour nursing and dementia care. The Care Home is monitored and registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). CQC is the independent body that regularly inspects all care homes in England.

We were honoured to have been awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Care Homes Monitoring Team of Northamptonshire NHS for 'good practice, continued development and commitment to excellence.' To win this award homes have to achieve a minimum score of 95% and have no recommendations on improvement following a quality monitoring visit.

We have also been recognised by carehome.co.uk which is the largest online care home directory, by being awarded 'Top 20 Recommended Care Home 2015'. The carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Home Awards 2015 highlight the most recommended Care Homes in each region of the UK. The Awards are based on over 45,000 Recommendations received from Residents and Family / Friends of Residents during 2014.

Dementia Care

The Meadows, our very own dementia wing, comprises of fully furnished individual rooms with en-suite facilities and a 24 hour emergency nurse call system.

In addition there is a large communal living area where daily meals are served, social interactive entertainment is provided and the use of the lifestyle kitchen is encouraged. This is a specially designed safe kitchen area for residents who still want to enjoy a level of personal independence.

See our Care Home page to find out what makes a Richmond Village care home different to a normal care home.

Respite care

Respite stays are always short-term. Having said that, the relationships they build between the village and resident give great reassurance to all concerned, especially if a longer stay ever becomes necessary. Respite care is also ideal for those who are well enough to leave hospital but not yet well enough to return home.

What does it cost?

As no two people are the same, our Village Adviser can advise you of the cost once the level of care and the length of stay you require has been established. In all circumstances, the fee will include any care provision, a comprehensive social activities programme, all meals and hotel and laundry services.

Like anyone facing the difficult decision of how to best support a family member in their twilight years, my family and I approached the team at Richmond with a mixture of fear and trepidation. We needn't have worried. The exceptional level of professionalism of the team is only surpassed by their wonderful warmth, care and (dare I say it) love they show towards my mother. The values that are instilled in the team by the management are in fact instinctive in every member whether it is the catering folks, the care assistants or indeed the nursing staff. My mother's medical needs are complex but everything is taken in their stride. As I joke with the team "they are not here for the money"! Their calling is truly a vocational one and I am humbled by their kindness and dedication to provide the best care possible. If my life journey includes a stay in a care home I have already picked out my room.....

My mother entered Richmond Northampton for End of Life Care, where she was a resident for about 7 weeks. The kindness of staff, where nothing was too much trouble to serve my mum and our extended visiting family, was truly outstanding. Careful pain management and medical professionalism, aligned with the love for a dying lady and her family, could not be better. The little touches, on the day we were called to expect my mum to pass away, a plate of sandwiches arrived for the family. The visits of staff outside their shifts went well beyond the call of duty. At this precious moment in our lives, we are deeply grateful to those at Richmond. Their care, love and service is an example that, if followed, could revolutionise healthcare across our nation.

Richmond Northampton is a place where you have total confidence that your elderly loved ones (parents) will be safe, looked after well and be happy. When I hear of reports on the news about terrible care homes, I am grateful that we found Richmond. Richmond's biggest asset is it's staff who are kind and helpful. The domicillary care department is exceptional as we found out recently when our Mother started to need help.

All the staff provide a caring, supportive and joyful atmosphere for the residents and especially for my mum. I am confident that they have her best interest and wellbeing at heart. They actively include her in activities which they know she will enjoy and they give me peace of mind.

A caring atmosphere. There is much to entertain residents, so that the grey matter is kept going. Staff are polite and helpful, many often go out of their way to help. Food is excellent, though if I had it all the time it could become a little repetitive, not sure there is an answer to that though.
