Richmond Letcombe Regis has a 53 bedroom care home providing 24 hour nursing and dementia care. This includes 51 en-suite bedrooms, plus a two bedroom care apartment.

The care home is monitored and registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). CQC is the independent body that regularly inspects all care homes in England.

Situated in the heart of the Village, the Care Home at Richmond Letcombe Regis benefits from all the facilities as well as having its very own lounges and dining rooms. The care home has a dedicated activity organiser who arranges a varied and fun weekly programme of events and activities developed around the interests of the residents.

Nursing Care Apartment

Richmond Letcombe Regis have developed a two bedroom care apartment specially designed for couples or family members, where either one or both need nursing care but wish to stay together. We believe this is the only such facility in Oxfordshire and possibly in the whole of the country.

The apartment comprises two separate bedrooms featuring electrically profiling beds, and both bedrooms have their own en-suite wet room. There’s also a fully furnished living room with television and DVD player and a fitted kitchenette that includes fridge, tea and coffee making equipment. However, residents are encouraged to personalise their apartment with photographs, pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture to create their own homely environment.

Dementia Care

Richmond Letcombe Regis has a dedicated community providing the very best residential and nursing dementia care. We recognise, support and celebrate each person's individuality and believe this is fundamental to our philosophy.

See our Care Home page to find out what makes a Richmond Village care home different to a normal care home.

Respite care

Respite stays are always short-term. Having said that, the relationships they build between the village and resident give great reassurance to all concerned, especially if a longer stay ever becomes necessary. Respite care is also ideal for those who are well enough to leave hospital but not yet well enough to return home. We offer respite care within our Village Suites or within our Care Home if you require nursing care.

What does it cost?

As no two people are the same, our Village Adviser can advise you of the cost once the level of care and the length of stay you require has been established. In all circumstances, the fee will include any care provision, a comprehensive social activities programme, all meals and hotel and laundry services.

The care received by my mother has been excellent. I have had the opportunity to visit my mother in her flat and most recently in Sycamore when she needed more care. There is no doubt that the staff in ALL capacities, whether they are actual caregivers or other staff, are very good to the residents. They treat them with respect which is extremely important. I had ample opportunity as well to see how others besides my own mother were treated. I do feel that with regard to Sycamore, as excellent as the staff are, they are often operating with fewer people than needed, which at times puts them and the patients at a disadvantage and at risk. I do think that it would be helpful to Sycamore visitors, and to staff, to have an information sheet setting forth procedures such as who to contact (email/ telephone) if necessary, arranging for hospital appointments, use of wheelchairs, hours of the separate dining room, laundry (days for pickup/return, bag to use), newspaper delivery, etc.

Cannot imagine any other care home provides better care for people with dementia. The senior and almost all of the other permanent staff are caring, conscientious and a credit to their profession. The temporary (agency?) staff and perhaps half of the permanents are less praiseworthy, in different degrees. Weaknesses are:- 1. Laundry, clothes of residents get mixed up all the time, socks aren't matched up etc. 2. Paperwork, this clearly is a problem. It is excessing in volume and tends to occupy junior staff to the detriments of patient care and seniors to the point of despair. 3. A recent power cut highlighted the lack of a generator.

My mother received superb care in the care home at Richmond. All the staff were very attentive and ensured that my mother was always at the centre of their decisions.

My mother was in the care home for about a year. The carers are wonderful, they truly care. They show compassion, interest and professionalism. They engage with the residents and help them feel safe and thought about. A sense of calmness and efficiency balance each other and help with the contentment levels of the residents. End-of-life care was so professional and considerate for my mother and for myself. The care team, from management through to all staff were so supportive. Cannot fault them.
