Winners of the Best of British Floral design

Winners of the Best of British Floral design

Richmond Village Northampton is proud to announce that we have won the "Best Floral Display" in a inter-village competition.

One of the judges Susie Oakley, Operations Director said “she was impressed with the very clever interpretation of the poppies at the Tower of London". The display had been made by the residents and was very striking and very poignant when residents gathered for the last post and lowering of the flag in the grounds at the start of their Best of British day. Well done everyone.

Richmond Nantwich really is The Best of British

Richmond Nantwich really is The Best of British

WELL - the results are in and we are...

JOINT WINNERS OF THE "BEST OF BRITISH" competition!

What an amazing achievement by everybody - staff and residents alike! From Gary Lawton, Maintenance and Linda Seeley, Activities efforts in making may poles, phone boxes, and hanging planes from trees to Debbie and her Hospitality team making delicious traditional British Fayre. Not to mention the Care Staff and Housekeepers who dressed up and sang - and who can forget the brave souls who went in the stocks to have soggy sponges thrown at them! Winston Churchill and the Queen - thank you for honouring us with your presence and Mary Poppins too!

This is what Susie Oakley,Operations Director and Judge had to say...

"The first overall winner is RICHMOND NANTWICH who not only had a very busy schedule of activities during the day but had managed to organise a vintage London Red Bus which the residents enjoyed looking at and sitting in. Most of the staff dressed up for the day and a number did a short rendition of war-time songs for the residents which were overseen by Winston Churchill himself! They had also built a phone box, Big Ben and the entrance to No. 10 Downing Street (together with a ‘To Let’ and ‘VACANCY -Apply Within’ sign!). The floral displays in the grounds were plentiful and very striking. The Best of British lunch was beautifully presented and very much in keeping with the theme. There were a number of activities to complement the theme with residents and staff getting involved."

We are immensely proud of winning (well done to Painswick as well!) and to all the other Richmond Villages who worked so hard.
