Village Manager, David Westerby was delighted to welcome the new care team to Richmond Witney in November, he commented...
"It's an exciting time for all of us and I sincerely hope that all of our residents are looking forward to making new friends and enjoying great company.
It gave me a huge amount of pleasure to welcome our new domiciliary care team to their induction and training programme earlier this month. Each of them has done exceptionally well to get through our demanding four stage interview and selection process and I am sure that the Richmond Witney residents will join me in congratulating them at this early stage when they start to move in next week.
There is a great mix of characters, skills and experience amongst the team and must confess I was impressed by their knowledge and commitment to the care roles they have undertaken in the past. I am certain that our residents will also enjoy chatting with them and be reassured by the quality of care and attention to detail in service they provide.
The induction and training programme took place over a two week period and was framed around the Care Certificate, a new piece of “best practice and regulation” which is currently in the process of being deployed at all Richmond Villages. The theory was delivered at our training facility at Witney Lakes Resort and the practical took place at the Letcombe Regis Richmond Village which is a convenient 30 minutes away by car. Incidentally I had afternoon tea there and I have to say the scones lashed with clotted cream and home-made jam were scrumptious!!
Back to the training! There are 15 core subjects to be studied and wait for it…..”a jaw dropping” 110 evaluations to be completed. That’s a pretty demanding in my book! Subjects range from complex care needs to the more simplistic of tasks such as the handling of information, however everything we do at Richmond Witney will revolve around having shared genuine interests and enjoying the company of those we care for."
