On Friday 19th June, 10.00am - 4.00pm, Richmond Bede Village will be opening it's doors to the public as part of the National Care Home Open Day. The theme we have chosen is 'The Arts'; in particular 'gardening.'
The idea behind the day is to encourage local people to visit care homes in their community and to work together to develop better relationships.
This important connection is something that Richmond Bede has nurtured since opening in 1992 and the home is already acting as a community hub, including holding quiz nights and entertainment nights, regular coffee morning and fetes.
As part of the Care Home Open Day 2015, Richmond Bede has George Eliot Hospitals 'Anker Radio' broadcasting on site throughout the day, entertainment from Our Flossie, Animal Encounters with Tropical Inc. The Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Councillor Barry Longdon and Consort Mrs Joan Longdon will also be with us from 10am until 12pm.
Sarah Downes Village Manager, said: "This is a great way to show the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work that goes on at Richmond Bede. Some people still have misconceptions about care homes so we are keen to dispel any myths and for people to come and have a look around, meet the staff and our residents."
Plus if we raise £100, Mel-Sue Walton, Activity Coordinator will .... SHAVE HER HEAD for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
