The Department of Working Pensions (DWP) there is more than £5 billion of means – tested benefits go unclaimed by the over 65's
If you are over 65years and you need help with personal care, or need supervision by day or someone to watch over you by night, this is because of your physical or mental health conditions; you may be able to claim Attendance Allowance and get extra money each week to support you
in your assisted living apartment.
The allowance is based on the help you need, not the help you actually get.
Attention or supervision from another person to help you to stay independent and continue to live in your own home.
Do not delay claim now - on the plus side Attendance Allowance is not taxable, is not based on national insurance contributions and is not means-tested, so you won’t have to give details of your income or savings.
You can spend it on care or in any other way you choose, maybe consider the option of
offsetting it against your assisted living costs.
There is now help at hand to make it easier in claiming; please contact Age Uk Oxfordshire www.ageukoxfordshire.org.uk or by Telephone 0345 450 1276 to be referred to a Age UK Oxfordshire Specialist Adviser (Welfare Benefits) who will help you to complete the benefit claim forms.
