Richmond Letcombe Regis Village Summer Festival Fundraiser

25th June 2014

Congratulations to everyone who helped to raise £937.00 for residents charity Oxfordshire Alzheimer's Society at  last weekends Summer Festival event. According to residents" This was the best summer festival we have ever had at Letcombe Regis Village". It all started with a wonderful art exhibition held last Friday of paintings, photographs and textitles produced by the residents living throughout the village to celebrate National Care Home Open Day. The afternoon did not let us down with James Mitchell performing the "Magic of Muscials" and this show was very well attended by residents, families and friends who shared their memories of their favourite songs over the last 100 years. There was just enough time to put on your dancing shoes to dance the night away with Wantage Big Band performing vocal numbers from Count Basie and Glenn Miller, this was a fun evening of entertainment. On Satursday morning the day started off with a summer fashion show in the marquee, where some residents took to the stage to model outfits selected by Senior Ladies Fashions and accessories by Howard Jewellery. This was followed with stall holders selling clothes, jewellery, sportswear to handbags where you could treat yourself to that special outfit or gift. The evening did not disappoint, it started with a champage reception, everyone dress to impress to either play on the casino tables to raise funds for Oxfordshire Alzheimers Society or  listen to a toe tapping muscial performance with  slapstick comedy performed by some very decent chaps known as  " Casablanca Steps" a brilliant 1920s & 30s muscial act. The final day of the summer festival ended with Abingdon Operatic Society  performing a selection of songs " Through the Years" with 18 cast members who took us through some well known muscial numbers from Okahoma and South Pacific. Everyone also enjoyed a delicious Richmond  Village " Afternoon Cream Tea". Finally the raffle was drawn and the Village Manager gave a vote of thanks to Heads of Departments and staff for their hard work for making this a brilliant weekend and together we have raised a fantastic amount £937.00 for our chosen charity.
