There were trollies full of cuddly toys at Sainsburys in Nantwich as Richmond Village
Nantwich joined forces with the store and local Scout Groups Skipton Explorers
and Wilson House to collect much needed supplies for The Wingate Centre in
The cuddly toys, all 356 of them, will be given to the children and young adults who visit
the centre on respite holidays throughout the year and are handed to each visitor
on arrival. At the end of their stay they then take them home as a reminder of
their time there.
This is the third year that Richmond and Sainsburys have collected the toys with Community
Champion Olwyn Payton from Sainsburys remarking “ we are delighted with the
response this year and especially grateful to the local Scout Groups for
helping collect so many.”
Catherine Moore from The Wingate Centre added “It is wonderful to know that there are so
many kind hearted people and I know that each and every toy will have a loving
Easter will see the next collection; this time of the chocolate variety as Eggs are
gathered in to share between the centre, Leighton Hospital Children’s Ward and
the Women’s Refuge.
