Piano Competition at Richmond Northampton

7 October 2013

On Friday 4th October, Richmond Northampton launched their first ever Piano Competition.

Everyone who entered the competition required to play at least two pieces of music of their choice, each piece no longer than 3 minutes. The pianists were judges by two residents Mrs Mace and Mrs Barker both ex-primary school teachers with a special interest in music and our very own head of activities Chris Rayatt-Howard. Mrs Mace ran the Sheffield Young Orchestral society. Mrs Barker passed all her music exams with full marks and distinction for every exam (not dropping a mark).

Pianists were judges on their performance of the evening and a trophy was given to the overall winners. Judges said "they were very impressed with the high standards of all the pianists and a very hard decision deciding on the winners".

Due to the success of the event, Richmond will now make this an annual event.
