14th January 2013

Richmond Letcombe Regis chooses Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance as Charity of 2013

Richmond Letcombe Regis residents have voted the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance (TVACAA) as their chosen charity for 2013.  Throughout the year the Village residents and staff will be holding a range of activities and events to raise funds for the organisation.

TVACAA functions solely to raise the funds required to keep the helicopter flying.  Every single penny needed is raised by the community and businesses of Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

A few facts … the air ambulance, which carries a patient and a carer, can be airborne within 3 minutes and has a top speed of approximately 150 mph.  It can land in an area of half the size of a tennis court and up to 50% of missions are road traffic accidents.  Each mission flown costs approximately £2,000 with an average of 3 missions per day and receives no funding from central Government or the National Lottery.

Cheque for £1000 donated by Village

Richmond Nantwich recently donated a cheque for £1000 to the South Cheshire Branch of the Army Benevolent Fund after a Gala Dinner Dance and Charity Auction was held at the Village.

Guests enjoyed a three course dinner, provided by the award winning hospitality staff at the Village during which a table magician wowed and amazed the guests with magic tricks and illusions.

The charity auction, featuring prizes donated by local businesses including Densem Wines, Sainsburys in Nantwich, Leonard Brothers Vets raised the majority of the money, although guests enjoyed “Roll the Coin” and “Heads or Tails” which helped add to the grand total.

Dancing followed to the sound of a swing band, which proved so popular that they have been rebooked for later this year!
