We're dying to entertain you...

Residents at Richmond Coventry had an entertaining evening in the Windsor Restaurant taking part in their very own Sherlock Holmes Murder Mystery.  The Irregular Special Players performed in period costume with Richmond staff and residents taking on character roles. Village Manager Tim Mellors was the blackmailing Doctor Dietler whilst Sonia Tenniswood, Domiciliary Manager was Colonel Holman Stevens.

There was one unexplained death, Dr Dietler had been shot....

Village residents thoroughly enjoyed the evening and its hoped Sherlock Holmes will make a visit sometime in the future.

The Best Christmas Fayre ever at Richmond Northampton

Richmond village celebrated the start of Christmas with its annual Christmas fayre.

There was plenty to keep all visitors entertained during the afternoon including arts and craft stalls, homemade cakes, tombola, raffle and a special visit from Father Christmas.

Cllr David Harries opened the event and he thanked everyone for their hard work especially Chris Rayatt for decorating the whole village beautifully with christmas trees and lights.

The afternoon ended in the restaurant with mince pies and mulled wine being served and the opportunity to listen to Sam the saxophonist.

The final total from the money raised for the two charities will be revealed on the19th December at our Carol Service.

Richmond Northampton will host a Country Dancing Session for the 50+ Network on Tuesday 4th December. Starting at 2pm – 4pm in the Restaurant with Retired professional caller Ray Smith who is also a Resident at Richmond Northampton.

Today the children from two classes will visit Richmond to perform a short Christmas theme play and sing Christmas Songs.The children will then meet the residents who will then give each child a present to take home for Christmas Day!

Oldest Movember Fund-raiser aged 91 at Richmond Village Nantwich

Nantwich resident, 91, recognised as oldest Movember fund-raiser

Mo Bros, Richmond Village Nantwich

A 91-year-old Richmond Village resident in Nantwich has helped the organisation raise £1,800 during Movember.

Bert Corden joined fellow residents, staff and directors to take part in the annual moustache-growing effort.

 

And national organisers have officially declared Bert as the oldest Mo-Bro to take part.

His daughter Pauline Kinder wrote to the organisers detailing his date of birth, and was delighted to receive their confirmation.

She said: “I was very proud he wanted to take part and when I last visited him, he asked me if it suited him which, indeed it did!”

Mr Corden added: “I rather like my moustache and am considering keeping it!”

Paddy Brice and Paul Jackson, directors of Richmond Villages, also joined in the effort alongside male members of staff and residents of the five centres around the UK.

Richmond Northampton Residents are looking forward to the annual christmas flower arranging event at the village.

Starting at 2pm in the Craft Room led by our Social and Recreational therapist Christopher Rayatt-Howard. Residents will watch the demonstration and then have the option to make an arrangement for themselves or just to socialise and chat with other residents over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie!

Calendar Guinea Pigs at Richmond Nantwich

A Retirement Village in Nantwich has been able to donate nearly £220 to local charity CLIMB with the help of its two resident guinea pigs.

Cornflake and Muesli are the stars of a 2013 calendar produced by Village staff which pictures them through each month including celebrating Christmas and with the Great British Care Award that their "Mum”, Hospitality Manager Debbie Mercandelli won this year.

The calendars sold out at the recent Christmas Fayre held at the Village, with emergency orders still being made!

Debbie remarked "Cornflake and Muesli are loved by everybody and we thought that it would be a fantastic idea to make the calendars to raise money for CLIMB, who we are delighted to support. At the moment they are enjoying a well deserved rest in their cosy hutches in the greenhouse away from the cold and ice."

The village manager’s quarterly award was presented to Sarah Matthews one of the village receptionist. Sarah has worked at Richmond Northampton for just over two years. Residents always comment on her likeable and helpful approach

Mandy Wickman (Reception Manager) and Tracy Bushell (Home trainer) also were nominated.

The presentation by Paul Bundyford the Village Manager took place at our weekly coffee morning with residents and staff.

Christmas Cake Make & Bake Session

Richmond Northampton Residents will decorate their Christmas cakes today. Earlier in November we had a making session and eight residents made an eight inch round Christmas Cake.

The cakes will be decorated first with a layer of marzipan followed by either royal icing spiked in the traditional way or with rolled fondant icing and decorated with snow flakes made from sugar paste.

The session starts at 2pm in the Craft Room and everything will be provided including a glass of Sherry and a Mince Pie!

Letcombe Regis donates money to Maggie's Cancer Care, Oxford

Maggie's Cancer Care in Oxford has been the Richmond Letcombe Regis Residents' chosen charity throughout 2012. 

During the year residents have held a number of fundraising activities and Anna O’Keeffe, Community Fundraiser for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre, Oxford, visited Richmond Letcombe Regis Village last week to be presented with funds raised over recent months. 

Maggie’s offers practical, emotional and psychological support to those affected by cancer which makes a real difference to people with cancer and their families and friends throughout Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.  Anna said "We are delighted to have been Richmond Villages’ Charity of the Year.”

Richmond Northampton residents from the Independent and Assisted Living Apartments will visit our Care Home today to sing Christmas Carols with our Care Home and Memory Lane Residents.

The Care Home and Memory Lane community consist of thirty rooms set within a luxury care home environment. Resident Joy Mace and Christopher (Social Recreational Therapist) will play a selection of Christmas songs and carols on the piano. A glass of Sherry and mince pies will be served after the concert.

Gillian Barker was awarded resident of the year by Paul Bundyford our Village Manager.

The presentation took place at our weekly residents coffee morning. Gillian was nominated by staff for all her help within the village community.  Gillian is always on hand to help everyone she takes Sunday Service every week, helps with the monthly Communion and visits daily our residents in the Care Home come rain or shine.  She is more than happy to be in any pictures or videos of the village.  Gillian was so shocked at being nominated she was overcome with emotion and was just truly grateful to everyone who nominated her.

A light Buffet will be available from 7pm onwards and the Bar will be open until 10pm

PAT dog making friends at Richmond Letcombe Regis

PAT (Pets as Therapy) dog Katie, a beautiful three year old Weimaraner, has been making regular visits to residents at Richmond Letcombe Regis for several months.  Katie visits the Care Home every week, where her arrival is keenly anticipated and welcomed with great enthusiasm.  This is Katie's first "assignment" as a PAT dog and she has a lovely gentle, friendly nature.  Residents and staff absolutely love her and also enjoy hearing about what she and her owner, Sue Brown, have been up to between visits.

A Year in the Life of Richmond Northampton

Richmond Northampton will host a presentation afternoon celebrating 2012.

There will be a picture presentation of the Village Activities and Events of 2012 starting at 2:30pm in the Function Room.

This year has been an amazing year with the "Jubilee Celebrations" and the "2012 Olympics". At Northampton we had far more to celebrate! Not only did we celebrate the Jubilee in a four day weekend and celebrated the 2012 Olympics but we also had Monthly Themed Supper Clubs, Theme Day Events, hosted our own Crufts Dog Show and took part in many community activities such as 50+ Network Road shows, Grange Park dog show and school visits.

We also celebrated the 1st year Anniversary of Jack and Margaret Gardner and celebrated the East Midlands Care Awards win for our Social and Recreational Therapist Christopher Rayatt-Howard.
