RICHMOND VILLAGE NANTWICH WINS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE- EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR 2012

Richmond Village Nantwich has proved that it is once again the best in the area by winning the “Employer of the Year” at the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Award ceremony held at Crewe Hall on Friday night. Richmond Village faced stiff competition from other local businesses including Rookery Hall!

The award of Employer of the Year was judged by Jacqueline McLean and John Morris both Senior Lecturers at MMU and upon presenting the award, commended Richmond Nantwich for their enthusiasm and dedication to providing training to staff which is reflected in their high standard of care offered.

This is an amazing accolade for Richmond Village, Nantwich and Richmond Villages as a whole and we are all extremely proud of every single person who contributed to winning this award!

Congratulations!

Movember at Richmond Nantwich

Movember at Richmond Nantwich

Male residents and staff at Richmond Village Nantwich are taking part in “Movember” raising money for men’s health charities by being sponsored to grow a moustache for the whole of November.

Despite a slow start, the moustaches are now coming on well with some resembling those seen in old Western movies whilst others are slightly more refined.

Village Advisor Nicola Tooke remarked, “It is strange seeing familiar faces sporting facial hair and becoming more and more hirsute. Obviously, the female residents and staff are supporting their efforts by becoming “Mo-sisters” and encouraging them in their fund-raising efforts through sponsorship.”

Anyone wishing to support members of the Richmond Village team should visit the Movember website and follow the link http://uk.movember.com/team/582309.

Richmond Coventry brings wartime experiences to life for school children

Richmond Coventry brings wartime experiences to life for school children

'Richmond Coventry brings wartime experiences to life for school children'

Wartime experiences were shared between the older and younger generations as part of a special project which bridged the age gap.

Children from Year 5 and Year 6 at Wheelwright Lane School in Ash Green visited Richmond Retirement Village in Bedworth to speak to residents.

The event took place as part of a special project for children to learn first hand of what life was like during World War II.

They spent a lot of time with a group of residents speaking to them and interviewing them to find out as much information as possible.

The children also had an opportunity to try on a variety of wartime clothing including helmets and spectacles, and seeing just how people had to survive upon each week when food was rationed.

Louise Smith, Village Advisor, said: "It is always interesting to share villager's experiences with other people, especially children.  It was a fun way to help them with their project work and the children were very interested in what they had to say."

For more information about Richmond Coventry, please contact Jason or Louise, our Village Advisors, on 024 76645544.

COUPLES CAN REMAIN TOGETHER AT INNOVATIVE RICHMOND VILLAGE NURSING HOME

23rd November 2012

COUPLES CAN REMAIN TOGETHER AT INNOVATIVE RICHMOND VILLAGE NURSING HOME

For those couples where either one or both are in need of nursing care, Richmond Villages has opened a new two bedroom care apartment within the nursing home at its retirement village at Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire.

The apartment comprises two separate bedrooms featuring electrically adjustable profiling beds, and both bedrooms have their own en-suite wet room.

There’s also a fully furnished living room with television and DVD player and fitted kitchenette that includes fridge/freezer, tea and coffee making equipment.  However, residents are encouraged to personalise their apartment with photographs, pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture to create their own familiar and homely environment.

Particularly appealing to couples where one or both require 24 hour nursing care, the new facility is believed to be the only one of its type in Oxfordshire, and possibly even in the whole of England.

“This new care apartment is ideal for those who want their own living space, yet need care to be delivered on a 24 hour basis with minimum disruption.  With two bedrooms, it is ideal where either partner needs nursing care, leaving the other free to enjoy being part of a sociable community where numerous activities are close at hand,” said Paddy Brice, managing director of Richmond Villages.

“We have developed this apartment after being asked by a number of potential clients for nursing care where they can stay together but not just within a twin room.  As a complete apartment within the care home, this means people can still live together in a more independent environment, yet with all the benefits of 24 hour nursing care close at hand,” added Mr Brice.

The cost of the nursing apartment is on a weekly basis, and subject to nursing requirements.

Richmond Letcombe Regis nestles in 36 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds that include lakeside gardens and a nature reserve, small courtyard areas, a kitchen garden for those ‘green fingered’ residents and well tended lawns with borders.  It even has its own manicured bowling green.

The village provides residents with a host of activities and events as well as unrivalled facilities such as the wellness spa which includes swimming pool, gym, health & beauty treatment rooms and a hair salon.  There’s a restaurant offering excellent dining, a thatched village shop and café, IT & craft rooms and a library, and with full time activity organisers it means there is always something to do!
