RICHMOND’S PAINSWICK VILLAGE WINS TWO NATIONAL RHS GARDENING AWARDS

1st October 2012

RICHMOND’S PAINSWICK VILLAGE WINS TWO NATIONAL RHS GARDENING AWARDS

When Richmond Villages entered this year’s prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) It’s Your Neighbourhood Heart of England in Bloom 2012, they hoped to do well.  But the assessors were so impressed, they not only gave an award to the village but also introduced a new award especially for Owen Vaughan, the head gardener!

The commendation read: “So impressive is Owen Vaughan’s gardening expertise that it was deemed necessary to introduce a new award.  The gardens at RichmondVillagein Painswick are outstanding in their design and presentation.  Owen – head gardener, is an accomplished plants man.  The cottage style planting schemes to the borders and gardens are planted with panache, style and confidence akin to that of Christopher Lloyd! (See note).  On the other side of the spectrum is Owen’s knowledge, respect and love of flora and fauna depicted inRichmond’s Wild Flower Meadow, a wonderful meadow created and maintained by Owen for all creatures great and small to enjoy.”

In winning its ‘Thriving award’ – one of five levels of achievement in the campaign, the gardens at Richmond Painswick were described as “breathtakingly beautiful with classic border planting schemes giving a wow factor at every twist and turn.  The whole area is immaculate and well maintained”.

Judged on three specific criteria - community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement - residents at the village also volunteer to tend their own patio areas and assist Owen with the dead heading, weeding and planting.

Said Susie Oakley, village manager of Richmond Painswick: “The initial design for the village ensured that the buildings and grounds blended harmoniously with the local environment, and these awards are a fine recognition for Owen and the residents who have worked so hard to create such wonderful and tranquil gardens.  We are all very proud of their achievements.”

Final Phase success

16th October 2012

Final Phase success

Following the success of the recent 'Open Day' for our final phase of Village Apartments at Richmond Letcombe Regis, there are just 7 properties remaining!

Paddy Brice, managing director of Richmond Villages commented "Considering not all the apartments have been handed over to us from the contractor, to have achieved off plan sales like this is amazing, especially in the current economic climate."

The final phase consists of 28 two-bedroom apartments and 4 one-bedroom apartments.  All boast a large lounge and fully fitted kitchen with granite worktops, with all two-bedroom apartments having an en-suite shower room to the master bedroom.

“These properties are ideal for those thinking about living independently and want their own front door, yet like the idea of being in a safe and sociable community with care and assistance close at hand if required.  We listened carefully to what our clients wanted which included having a large living space and up to two large bedrooms, especially important if someone is downsizing,” said Paddy Brice.

To find out more or to arrange a visit please call the village advisers on 01235 773970 option 1

BLOOMING MARVELLOUS! - RICHMOND VILLAGES SCOOPS YET ANOTHER AWARD, BUT THIS TIME FOR ITS GARDENS

17th October 2012

BLOOMING MARVELLOUS! - RICHMOND VILLAGES SCOOPS YET ANOTHER AWARD, BUT THIS TIME FOR ITS GARDENS

Richmond Villages can now boast another accolade for its retirement village, having scooped Gold in the New Homes Gardens Awards for its village at Letcombe Regis in Oxfordshire. Just a few weeks ago the company had success in the RHS Gardening Excellence and RHS Thriving Awards for its village at Painswick in Gloucestershire.

In awarding Gold to Letcombe Regis, the judges commented that their decision was based on the provision of a ‘fantastic living environment with everything the residents could want’.  They highlighted the vibrant and dense planting providing colour, fragrance and stimulation for those living there.  Hazard free, level paths encourage residents to interact and meander in the gardens, enjoying and benefitting from the fresh air.  The judges were particularly impressed by the community spirit generated by the shared organic kitchen garden andbowling green.

Commented Elisabeth Parker, village manager of Richmond Letcombe Regis: “The initial design for the village ensured that the buildings and grounds blended harmoniously with the local environment. This award is a great recognition for our gardeners and residents who work so hard to create and maintain such a wonderful and tranquil environment.  We are all very proud of their achievements.”
