Celebration Cake to say "Well Done" at Richmond Northampton

To celebrate Richmond Village Northampton being awarded a Certificate of Achievement for good practice, Paul Bundyford Manager congratulated his staff with a celebration cake for all their hard work in achieving this Award.

On 21st May Cathy Goldsmith Clinical Nurse Manager from Richmond Village and Sherrill Thomas Deputy Manager attended “The Care Homes Quality Monitoring Team awards ceremony”. The ceremony was attended by over 40 nursing and Care home representatives, general practitioners, Nene Commissioning and representatives from NHS Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire.

The ceremony was to celebrate achievement of Nursing and Care Homes during the past years Quality Monitoring visits. Homes were required to reach 95% and no recommendations following quality monitoring visits.

Richmond was one of the Homes recognised and awarded a Certificate of Achievement for good practice, continued development and commitment to excellence.

Richmond Nantwich stages own Olympic Torch Relay

Richmond Village is celebrating the Olympic Torch coming to the area recently by holding its own torch relay around the building and gardens.

The torch travelled about the Village throughout the day being passed from member of staff to resident and back again, including being taken for a trip around the Bowling Green by resident Alan Smith.

Hospitality Manager Debbie Mercandelli remarked “It was a fun way to mark the occasion with even Lynne, our Village Manager, taking part.”

Tree Planting to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubliee at Richmond Northampton

The Chairman of South Northants Council, Councillor Sally Townsend was the special guest at Richmond Northampton

She was delighted to except the honour of being part of the planting ceremony to mark the occasion.  Village resident Hilda Bower was also in attendance and helped Sally with the first spade of soil.

Sally then spoke to all in attendance and thanked Richmond for inviting her to attend as she had played a vital role in the building of the Grange Park and Richmond Community.  Afterwards Sally was given a guided tour around the village whilst speaking to residents along the way.


DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS AT RICHMOND NANTWICH

An afternoon of celebration is being planned for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by staff and residents of Richmond Village Nantwich.

A Street Party is being held on Saturday 2nd June from 2pm to mark this momentous occasion, which will feature the wonderful sound of Foden’s Brass Band plus all things patriotic.

Richmond Painswick's Community Jubilee Lunch

On Saturday 2nd June, staff, friends, families and residents will come together to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Starting at 12.00pm tables will be set in red white and blue ready for lunch. Celebrations include a band, ice cream stall and plenty of entertainment for all ages.

Richmond Northampton are starting the summer with a Village Garden Games Afternoon on Saturday 2nd June 2012.

Starting at 2:30pm on the Village Green Residents and guests will be abe to play a big range of garden games such as, Chess, Draughts, Connect 4, Ludo, Dominoes, Crazy Golf & of course a Royal game of Croquet.

Afternoon Tea will then be served at 3:30pm.

Richmond Northampton Join In Community Event

To Celebrate her Majesties Diamond Jubilee and Olympics 2012 The Grange Park Parish Council organised a community event for everyone on Grange Park and surrounding areas. Richmond Village were proud to be apart of the afternoon's entertainment.

The event started at 1pm in the Foxfields Pavilion with many activites including tombola and raffle stalls. Outside activities such as BMX Biking, Archery, Football, Zumba, Live music, BBQ and Pimms Bar were some of the events happening on this day.

Children and Adults were able to take part in all the events including having a Union Jack painted on their faces.  During the day people were able to watch "The Thames Pageant" on a big screen in the main Pavilion. All proceeds made on the day would be donated the the Air Ambulance.

Richmond Northampton were proud to be part of such an event, we had residents attending that said “the atmosphere is as great as the original Coronation, even though the weather conditions were so poor".

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in style at Richmond Village Nantwich on Saturday as residents, guests and staff held a traditional street party.

Over 100 people, many dressed patriotically in red white, and blue joined the afternoon’s revelries as Cat Radio started the party, followed by the wonderful sound of the award winning Foden’s Brass Band.

“The Floral Dance” and “The Sailor’s Hornpipe” were enjoyed by all, but it was the rousing rendition of “Rule Britannia” that had everyone singing and waving their flags. Mr Foden, grandson of the founder of the Brass Band and a resident at Richmond Village was joined by family and friends and thanked the band on everyone’s behalf to cheers and loud applause.

A traditional afternoon tea was served whilst Debbie Mercandelli, Hospitality Manager and British Care Award winner made delicious jugs of Pimms to accompany it. A Union Jack cake, made by Steve Monks Head Chef had pride of place amongst the delicious food on offer whilst a huge Union Jack themed hamper, provided by Sainsburys in Nantwich, was raffled and raised over £120 for the Princes Trust.

As the National Anthem brought the afternoon’s activities to an end, the words of “God Save our Gracious Queen” could be heard around the Village amidst a sea of red, white and blue.

Hilary Minshull, Care Home Manager remarked “We have all had an amazing time this afternoon. In fact, the whole day has been wonderful. We started early in the morning to ensure that everything was in place for a really fantastic party and that is exactly what we all had. We would especially like to thank Cat Radio and Foden’s Band, whose performance on the afternoon was so kindly donated by Mr Foden, and who made the whole atmosphere so special.”

Mrs Errol Lochhead, resident of Richmond Village echoed her sentiments when she said “Everyone has obviously worked really hard to make this afternoon such a success. We have all had the most wonderful time and are delighted that we were able to join in the celebrations in this way”.

Jubilee Celebrations at Richmond Northampton

Richmond Northampton are busy preparing for the Queens Dimond Jubilee. The Jubilee Weekend will be packed full of Jubilee Activities.  The intinary of events are as follows:-

Friday 1st June 2012 - Jubilee Tree planting ceremony in the village grounds (Councillor Sally Townsend, South Northants Chairman) is the invited guest.

Saturday 2nd June 2012 – Residents will be watching the original Queens Coronation with a glass of Pimms and strawberries and cream.

Sunday 3rd June 2012 – Residents will join in the community fun at the local Foxfield Country Park.  This event is one of the biggest celebrations in the South Northants Area.

Monday 4th June 2012 - Richmond will be decorated in red, white and blue bunting.

Tuesday 5th June 2012 – Jubilee Street Party. Weather permitting this will be on the Village Green from 10:30am, starting with a coffee morning.  Events throughout the day will be a treasure hunt, Jubilee hat competition, buffet lunch, brass band and country / maypole dancing followed by a traditional cream tea at 4pm to finish the day.

Also at 2.00pm an "Olympic Torch Bearer" will be surpising residents with a visit.

Olympic Torch Bearer at Richmond Northampton

Richmond Northampton Residents were visited by an Olympic Torch Bearer John Fry on the Day of the Jubilee celebrations.

Residents were able to talk to John and had the opportunity of holding the torch. John ran in the Herefordshire district and had been nominated through Birmingham sports council for his dedication to "In-line Speed Skating".

There were many Jubilee activities during the day in the village including a treasure hunt and best hat competition but Johns visit made the day a wonderful success.

The day was finally rounded off with afternoon cream tea.

Community & Information Day at Richmond Letcombe Regis

As part of Wantage Summer Festival, Richmond Letcombe Regis will be hosting its second Community and Information Day on Saturday 16th June, from 10.00am to 4.00pm.  

Attractions throughout the day include children's entertainment, local shools' art competition (sponsored by Dolphin Art, Wantage), live music, barbecue and refreshments and a prize raffle in aid of local charities.

We shall have over 25 stall holders including country markets and craft stalls, charities, Tourism South East, financial and legal advice, free health checks and much more...

Diamond Jubilee Mikado at Richmond Letcombe Regis

What better way to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee than a truly British Mikado?  Set in Japan, Gilbert & Sullivan intended this operetta as a satire on British pomposity.  On Sunday 17th June, Opera Anywhere and the Letcombe Singers are presenting a special Diamond Jubilee Mikado combined with a Last Night of the Proms finale.  The event will be introduced by Richard Baker OBE.

Opera Anywhere has delighted audiences of all ages for 12 years now and is unique - combining beautiful singing with having fun and a good dose of audience participation - which of course is optional.  Over the years Opera Anywhere has proved to be a foundation to launch the careers of numerous established singers, many of whom now perform for International Opera Houses and have received prestigious awards.

The Mikado will take place in our Mediterranean Courtyard, in the round, and is weatherproof, so even if it rains the show will go on ...

Village Managers Award at Richmond Northampton

Richmond Northampton has a quarterly award called the Village Managers Award.

Residents nominate a member of staff in writing to the manager and the manager decides who gets the award and if there are a lot of votes the second & third place nominee also receive a certificate recognising the nominations.

This Quarter the Village managers Award went to Pam Edgington a Memory Lane Carer. Pam has worked at Richmond Northampton for just over four years, has always shown a passion for her work at Richmond and for our Residents.

Pam was presented with her Certificate and a Gift to the value of £50.

Falls Awareness Week at Richmond Northampton

Richmond NorthamptonResidents have a regular Coffee Morning every Tuesday from 10:30am and occasionally we have a guest speaker or presentation.

This week is National Falls Awareness Week and our guest speaker today was Helen Harmon from the Northamptonshire Falls Awareness Service.

Helen did a ten minute presentation to residents about how to prevent falls, how exercise and being able to keep active is an important part of a Residents daily routine.

After the presentation Helen spoke to all Residents individually and handed out information on a Falls Awareness course available at theNorthampton GeneralHospital.

Richmond Northampton Strawberry Picking

At Richmond Northampton we have weekly day trips but today the residents will go Strawberry Picking!

Located at Geddington a "Pick Your Own farm" where the fruits are grown on high benches which means not having to bend over trying to reach strawberries!

The farm has a small tea shop so first port of call will be Tea/Coffee then on to pick Strawberries, Raspberries, Goosberries or if the residents want to they can buy already picked fruits from the farm shop whilst sitting in the garden enjoying the warm weather overlooking the Northamptonshire country side.

We will then have lunch at "The Tradepost" in kettering who do a superb Carvery lunch and fabulous puddings!  

We have 12 residents already booked and have already started a waiting list!

A new Yoga Tutor and class are starting at Richmond Northampton.

The first taster session proved to be a big hit and the residents are eager to start the next session!

Each session costs £5 and takes place every Wednesday morning in the Function Room.

The Artist Film Afternoon at Richmond Northampton

Richmond Northampton Residents are eagerly waiting to see the newly released film The Artist on Thursday 28th June 2012 at 2:30pm in the Function Room.

The film plot is about Hollywood in 1927. George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo), it seems the sky's the limit -- major movie stardom awaits. 'The Artist' tells the story of their interlinked destinies.
