Richmond Painswick 'Cake Break'

 Staff at Richmond Painswick will kick start MS week off with a thrilling experience on one of the longest 'Zip Wires' in the UK on Sunday 29 April.

On the 1st May we plan to have a day full of fun and information on MS. 

We will have a ‘Cake Break’ which will be ongoing throughout the day!  The Wellness Spa will be holding 'Keep fit' esessions and a MS representatives will be on hand to answer any questions – we may even have a celebrity visiting!!!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Local Author visits Richmond Letcombe Regis

At our next Supper Club, on Wednesday 2nd May at 6.00pm, we are deliighted to be welcoming David P Elliot, writer of novels and short stories.  Author David, who lives in Abingdon, will be joining us to read from his books, which often include themes of the supernatural and tales in the great tradition of the British short story.  He will also be talking about his writing.

MS Society Cake Break at Richmond Letcombe Regis

Staff at Richmond Letcombe Regis are holding a Cake Break Sale on Thursday 3rd May as part of a range of activities and events being held to support MS Week 2012.

Staff will be baking cakes, brownies and cookies to sell to residents and staff on the day, with donations going to the MS Society.  Other events during the week include a ball workout and a "staying steady" ribbon workout in the gym.

Painswick make an outing to Thornbury's Sensory Garden

On Thursday 3rd May, Richmond Painswick are making a visit to Thornbury Community Garden to view this wonderful garden in its spring glory. This beautiful and tranquil sensory garden recently won an award from BBC Points west as the Best Community Garden in their Real Gardens competition so certain to be a brilliant afternoon out.

Richmond Painswick at Sudeley Castle

On Monday 7th April, we are visiting the stunning stately home located in the Cotswolds. The Castle has changed hands over a dozen times during its history and today it is the private home of Lord and Lady Ashcombe, Henry and Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst and their families.

Although the castle isn't all we will be exploring as Sudeley’s glorious gardens are amongst the very best in England, from the centrepiece Queens' Garden, billowing with hundreds of varieties of old fashioned roses, to the Herbal Healing Garden which was introduced for the 2010 season.

Richmond Nantwich Employee wins National Award

DEBBIE AND TEAM ARE THE BEST!!!

 

On Saturday 12th May the finals of the Great British Care Awards were held at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Debbie Mercandelli, Hospitality Manager at Richmond Village Nantwich, together with Paddy Brice Managing Director of Richmond Villages, Paul Jackson Director of Sales and Development and members of staff from Nantwich were there representing the North West region in the Hydration and Nutrition Category. Debbie and her team faced stiff competition from the other regions including Staffordshire County Council!

The Great British Care Awards recognise excellence in all areas of care including social, private and institutional, and nominations were received from across the whole country.

It was a glittering affair hosted by Ben Sheppard, TV personality, who commented “Debbie and her team at Richmond Nantwich should be very proud”

As the results were announced, we were all thrilled that Debbie and her team’s hard work and dedication earned them the title of

“Great British Care Award Winners”

This is an amazing accolade for Debbie, Richmond Nantwich and Richmond Villages as a whole and we are all extremely proud of every single person who contributed to winning this award!

Richmond Nantwich Resident celebrates 104th birthday!

There was an extremely special birthday party recently for one of the residents of Richmond Village Nantwich when Mrs Kathleen Haighton celebrated her 104th birthday.

Family, friends, staff and residents joined together to wish Kath a very Happy Birthday with the help of Community Champion of the Year, Olwyn Payton from Sainsburys in Nantwich, who had kindly donated a beautiful bouquet of flowers and delicious chocolates.

Hilary Minshull, Care Home Manager remarked “We are delighted to be able to celebrate this very special day with Kath. She is a lovely lady and very much part of Richmond Village who puts her longevity down to a small tipple in the evening.”


Painswick reminisces with Musical Moments

On Thursday 17 March we are heading to the Subscription Rooms in Stroud for 'Your Musical Memories' as hosted by Trevor T Smith, a lovely afternoon's nostalgic entertainment.

Enjoy the music of yesteryear when the community gathered around the piano to sing everyone’s favourite songs. Your genial host and pianist Trevor presides over a feast of talent from local performers and gifted young artists. Community singing will lift your spirits and you can chat with
friends over a cup of tea.

Richmond Entertainer awarded MBE

Richmond Village Residents and staff were delighted, recently, to hear that regular entertainer, accordionist, John Jones had received the MBE for his dedication to charity work.

John, who will be celebrating his 70th birthday the weekend of the Queen’s Jubilee, regularly visits local hospitals and care homes with his accordion and, indeed, is even playing over the weekend of his birthday!

John travelled down toLondonto receive his award from Princess Anne atBuckinghamPalacewhich he said was “An honour and a great privilege”.

Olympic Torch passes Richmond Painswick!!

On Wednesday 23 May, the Olympic Torch Relay will be passing up the A46 through Painswick heading to St Mary's church. It will be passing through at aproximately 5pm and we will be there to support and celebrate the near arrival of London Olympics 2012.

Richmond Northampton Beaver Visit

Northampton Residents were delighted to be visited by the local Beavers group. The children arrived at 4:30pm to sing a song they had prepared and then handed out plants they had grown together in their groups to the Residents.

Resident Gillian Barker was so pleased that she gathered up the residents and led them into song and taught the children a new song which they loved.

This has given the children an opportunity to work towards their community service badge and was a great intergenerational Activity.

On the last Tuesday of every month we hold a 'Stroke Club' where you can get advice, seek information and meet up with other people who have had a stroke or maybe a family member. Informal and friendly club with coffee and good company!

Richmond Northampton receive Care Award

Cathy Goldsmith Clinical Nurse Manager and Sherrill Thomas Deputy Manager at Richmond Northampton attended “The Care Homes Quality Monitoring Team awards ceremony”. The ceremony was attended by over 40 nursing and Care home representatives, general practitioners, Nene Commissioning and representatives from NHS Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire

The ceremony was to celebrate achievement of Nursing and Care Homes during the past years Quality Monitoring visits. Homes were required to reach 95% and no recommendations following quality monitoring visits.

Richmond was one of the Homes recognised and awarded a Certificate of Achievement for good practice, continued development and commitment to excellence. 

During interview at the awards ceremony Cathy Goldsmith stated “we hear so much bad press about Nursing and Care homes, it is refreshing to be rewarded for good practice. It is an honour to receive the award on behalf of the care floor and is a tribute to all of the team at Richmond Village Northampton.
