Residents and staff will be taking part in a in Sponsored Swimathon on Tuesday 3rd of April at 5.00pm.  The aim is to swim 100 lengths of the Wellness Spa pool in 60 minutes.  Following the swim, swimmers and supporters can then enjoy special Swimathon themed cocktails in the bar.   This will be our first fundraising event for Maggie's Cancer Care Centre. Oxford, the charity selected by residents as their chosen charity for 2012.

On Wednesday 4^th April 2012 at 2:30pm Richmond Northampton are hosting a Community Tea Dance.

We hold regular Tea Dances every week and Tutors attend every first and third Wednesday. The tutors will be here to give guidance as needed. We also have live music with local Saxophonist Simon Moxham.

The Tea Dance is open to everyone in Northampton and the local area of Grange Park.Tea/Coffee and cakes are served at 3:30pm and the afternoon including refreshments is only £2.95

Hundreds of children in the local area will have a special treat this Easter after over 300 Chocolate Eggs were delivered to them recently.

The Easter Eggs were the result of the 2^nd Annual Easter Egg Appeal by Richmond Village Nantwich, CAT Radio and Sainsburys Nantwich who, together with staff from Winsford Police Headquarters and Custom Powders in Crewe, collected the grand total of 312 eggs. The eggs were shared between the Wingate Centre, the Nantwich Children’s Support centre and The Children’s Ward at Leighton Hospital, all of whom were extremely grateful for the generosity shown by everyone who so kindly helped with the Appeal.

Nicola Tooke, Village Advisor at Richmond Village together with Olwyn Poynton from Sainsburys, who is also South Cheshire and Cat Radio’s Community Volunteer of the Year, joined Cat Radio’s Claire Faulkner, Stephanie Heath and Jason Griffiths and their mascot “Twitchy” to deliver the eggs bringing smiles to staff and children alike.

Lynne Griffin, Village Manager at Richmond Village said “This is the second year that this Appeal has taken place and we are absolutely delighted that so many eggs were collected. Residents, staff and the general public have been wonderful in their support although it has been very difficult resisting the temptation to actually eat one of the eggs, especially when we have been surrounded by so many!”

Richmond Northampton celebrate Easter weekend in style starting on Good Friday with Coffee Morning followed by Lunch and a Show at the local Royal & Derngate theatre.

Easter Sunday we have a Sherry morning at 10:30am in the Yellow Lounge followed by an Easter Egg hunt around the village centre and grounds.

Easter Sunday lunch is at 12-2pm followed by an Easter Bonnet Parade in the Coffee shop/Reception area and judged by Lesley Mason Senior Village Advisor.

We also have a Good Friday Service at 2:30pm and a Special easter Sunday Service at 10:30am in the ground floor Blue Lounge.

Richmond Residents are eagerly awaiting the Quiz night on Wednesday 11th April 2012

Residents will compete in teams of up to six for five general knowledge rounds and music round.

£1 per person attending goes towards the two nominated Charities of the year. It’s a great way to spend an evening!

Richmond Letcombe Regis has been named Business of the Year by Wantage Business Breakfast Club.  The award was made at the Club's 11th Anniversary meeting which was also hosted by Richmond Letcombe Regis.  50 local business men and women attended the event enjoying a Full English or Continental breakfast with the guest speaker Ann Griffiths from Vision Coaching.

Residents, staff and Wellness Spa members at the Richmond Letcombe Regis Retirement Village have raised in excess of £400 in aid of Maggie’s Centre, Oxford.  Swimmers were aiming to swim 100 lengths in one hour, but with plenty of willing participants, they completed the task in just half the time.  Swimmers of all abilities and ages, from 22 to 81, took part in the relay and other residents cheered them on from the poolside.  Following the swim, everyone gathered in the Bar to enjoy specially created Swimathon themed cocktails - including The Beached Whale, Life Saver and Sink or Swim.

Maggie's Cancer Care Centre, Oxford, is the charity selected by residents at Richmond Letcombe Regis as their charity for 2012 and the Swimathon was the first of many fundraising events planned.

Debbie Mercandelli, Hospitality Manager of Richmond Village Nantwich, travelled to London recently for the judging of the Great British Care Awards.

Debbie and her team were selected as The North West winners of the Hydration and Nutrition Award last year, and are now representing the region in the finals, which are to be held at a glittering award ceremony in London on 12^th May this year.

Debbie has already been named as one of South Cheshire’s Employees of the Year, and has also reached the semi-finals of the Barchester Care Awards.

Debbie remarked “I am very honoured to be representing the wonderful team here at Richmond Nantwich. Of course, I am also very nervous but we are all looking forward to the Award evening.”

Lynne Griffin, Village Manager added, “Debbie and her team work extremely hard at providing tasty nutritional food each and every day to our Residents and I am delighted that they have been recognised in this way. We all wish them lots of luck.”

The finals of The Great British Care Awards are being held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane and will this year feature TV personality Ben Shepherd as host.

Richmond Village residents welcomed St Georges Day with a scout parade on Sunday 22^nd April.

Local Scouts, Cubs and Beavers paraded from Grange Park community centre to join Richmond Residents at their retirement village.

Children, leaders and parents arrived at 11:15am on the Village Green.  Residents sat and watched as the children renewed their promise and joined in singing the Hymn “All Things Bright and Beautiful” accompanied by resident pianist Joy Mace.

A short prayer was led by Richmond resident Gillian Barker followed by the National Anthem “God Save The Queen”.

Activities co-ordinator Chris Rayatt said “it’s been a fantastic opportunity for intergenerational activities and our residents have loved seeing the children.  There was a large attendance of children and parents here today; it was such a lovely atmosphere”.

April 23rd is the international day of the book and also World Book Night.  

Richmond Letcombe Regis is delighted to have been selected as one of the distribution points for World Book Night.  We shall be celebrating this special evening when across the country passionate volunteers gift books to share their love of reading and we shall be giving away one of 25 specially selected titles. 

In 2012 World Book night is being celebrated in the UK, Ireland, Germany and the USA.and 1 million books will be given away in total.

Despite typical April Showers, residents from Richmond Village Nantwich welcomed the help of a handful of young keen gardeners from Stapeley Broad Lane Primary this week, to sow the seeds for Wildflowers in the Woodlands atRichmondVillage.

This years RHS scheme to sow Wildflowers for the future was helped along enthusiastically by both residents and children alike. The ground was prepared previously by Richmond’s Gary Lawton- who created four patches of land in the Woodlands in the shape of a square, circle, triangle and diamond. Doug Butterill of the Nantwich In Bloom committee was on hand to make sure all went smoothly. The flowers will now be monitored to see which patch grows the most and quickest and the children will be returning in a couple of months to see the outcome of their plot.

Caroline Middleton of Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School said- “It was lovely to see the children working closely with the residents- and the Afternoon Tea that was served after all the hard work was delicious and well worth the efforts of the day”

Village Raffle Gives Hearing Dogs for Deaf People a Boost 

Richmond Village Nantwich held a raffle at their recent Easter Supper Club in aid of The Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Over 30 people attended the event and enjoyed a Carvery Meal, an Easter Quiz and then the raffle was drawn, with a fabulous Spa Weekend for 2 on offer as first prize.

Over £60 was raised, and presented to Jacqui Snelson- a representative of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People (see picture). Hilary Minshull, Care Manager, said “The evening was a great success, and we are proud to be doing our bit for a worthy charity. We are now looking forward to Jacqui returning with her associate June and her dog Paddy in June.”

Planning is well under way for the first Dance Festival at Richmond Village Nantwich.

Bank Holiday Monday, 7^th May will see Local dance groups, including The Shannon Dancers and Ceroc Addiction performing from 2.30pm, providing entertainment for the whole family. Refreshments will also be available and entrance is free.

 Staff at Richmond Painswick will kick start MS week off with a thrilling experience on one of the longest 'Zip Wires' in the UK on Sunday 29 April.

On the 1st May we plan to have a day full of fun and information on MS. 

We will have a ‘Cake Break’ which will be ongoing throughout the day!  The Wellness Spa will be holding 'Keep fit' esessions and a MS representatives will be on hand to answer any questions – we may even have a celebrity visiting!!!  

On Monday 30th April, classical singer Charlotte Church is performing a selection of wonderful classical favourites.
