Richmond Nantwich launch Cuddly Toy Appeal

20th November 2011

Richmond Village Nantwich have teamed up with Cat Radio and local Volunteer of the Year Olwyn Payton of Sainsburys to spread some Christmas Cheer.

The Retirement Village and Care Home, together with Cat Radio and their local Sainsburys store in Nantwich, have launched a cuddly toy appeal and have already collected dozens of furry friends, which will be donated to their local respite centre for disabled children and young adults, The Wingate Centre.  Following the success of their Easter Egg Appeal earlier this year, Richmond Village Nantwich are keen to get as many local businesses and public donating to this very worthy cause. Nicola Tooke- Village Advisor commented “The Wingate Centre offers residential short term breaks for children and young adults with special needs.  Every child that stays at the Centre is given a cuddly toy, which helps them to settle on their first night away from home. For many of the children these toys can become very precious, so you can imagine the Centre can give out thousands, and to keep stocks full, especially at such a poignant time of the year, is essential”

Richmond Village are asking the local community to give generously. Both new and used donations in good condition are accepted and can be brought to the Village Reception, where they will be collected ready for delivery to the Wingate Centre nearer to Christmas.

For further information, please contact either Alison or Nicola at Richmond Nantwich on 01270 629080.

Please bring all donations by December 16th 2011.

BBC's Celebrity MasterChef comes to Richmond Letcombe Regis

23rd November 2011

BBC's Celebrity MasterChef comes to Richmond Letcombe Regis

A very special afternoon tea was enjoyed recently at Richmond Letcombe Regis when contestants from BBC One’s Celebrity MasterChef series competed to prepare recipes belonging to residents.  John Torode and Gregg Wallace, series judges, joined contestants in the kitchens.

The semi finalists were set the challenge of impressing residents with their culinary skills, cooking recipes for much-loved cakes and pies donated by residents, from French apple tart and chocolate cake to a ginger cake recipe which had been handed down from generation to generation.

The celebrities took over the kitchen for much of the day and were tasked with preparing afternoon tea for their special guests, who then had the opportunity to taste their efforts and judge the results.

Elisabeth Parker, Village Manager commented:  “It was a terrific thrill for residents and staff to have the Celebrity MasterChef team filming here.  It was certainly a very unusual day in our kitchen but it was fascinating to see how the celebrities coped with cooking under such pressures and time constraints. “

Celebrity MasterChef: Thursday 13th October at 2.15pm and Friday 14th October at 8.30pm on BBC One.  The programme can be viewed on the BBC iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b016172b/Celebrity_MasterChef_Series_6_Episode_24/
