SUMMER FAYRE A RESOUNDING SUCCESS AT RICHMOND NANTWICH

7th August 2011

SUMMER FAYRE A RESOUNDING SUCCESS AT RICHMOND NANTWICH
Crowds of people came to Richmond Village Nantwich on Saturday to enjoy a Summer Fayre on its grounds.
Craft stalls tempted visitors to buy unique and interesting goods and to indulge in the odd cup cake or two, whilst children enjoyed bouncing around on the inflatable castle or watching the ever funny Punch and Judy show.
Cat Radio provided entertainment and chat throughout the day as they broadcast their shows live from the event, only stopping to allow the MVS steel band to up the tempo with their calypso beats which had people dancing in the isles!
Each stall donated a prize which then went into a raffle, with the money raised from this and the popular tombola being donated to the local branch of Parkinsons UK. However, the majority of the money raised was from a large balloon race. Over 300 balloons were bought by local businesses and general public, plus Residents and staff at Richmond Village and these were released as the Summer Fayre drew to a close, just escaping a summer downpour as they rose into the sky.
Mr Dennis Fricker, representing the local branch of Parkinsons UK, remarked "The whole day has been fantastic. The money raised will go towards providing a specialist Parkinsons nurse for the local area and we are very grateful to everyone at Richmond Village for organsing this event, plus of course all the stallholders who donated a prize for the raffle."
In total, over £550 was collected and will be presented to Mr Fricker on behalf of Parkinsons UK at a presentation afternoon at the Village.
Local CAT RADIO DJ Chris Radford said "We were delighted to support this very worthwhile event. Everyone has been fantastic and we have all had great fun throughout the day.CAT Radio is always very keen to help out with local community ventures and, with Nicola and Alison of Richmond Village now also presenting their own show on the station this was ideal!"
Planning is now well underway at the Village for the third Connecting the Community Family Fun day which promises to be bigger and better than ever with displays, childrens entertainment, bouncy castle and face painting. Red Shift radio will be here celebrating their anniversary with their own stage plus appearances from the local emergency services and lots of information on hand on just what is available in and around the local area. For more details on this or fututre events including a Benefit Ball in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund in October, please call 01270 629080 and ask for Nicola or Alison.
