Win Crook, who was born in Reading in 1910, celebrated her 101st birthday today. She enjoyed a family meal in the Lakeside Restaurant, followed by an afternoon tea-party with other residents.
When Win moved in, in May last year, she was one of the first residents of the Richmond Care Home at Letcombe Regis. In June she helped the Village celebrate another very special occasion when she met Prince Edward during his official visit to open the Retirement Village.
Mrs Crook left school at the age of 16 and spent much of her working life as an employee of True Form shoes. She married her husband William in 1935 and was married for 47 years until she was widowed in 1982. Win has a daughter, Wendy Miles who lives with her husband Graham in Sparsholt.
Wendy, pictured with her mother, says “Mum has really settled in and is enjoying life and all the varied activities organised here”.
